Shipped and received on time. I've needed something like this for quite some time. Managing numerous loose yarn remnants that frequently tangle can be quite time-consuming when hand-rolling them into balls. This item does the job in no time at all. The the unit's attachment mechanism; while it is adjustable, doesn't open sufficiently to accommodate my craft cart. However, this oversight is mine, as the product description does specify a maximum width of 1.9 inches. Various weights and textures of yarn necessitate distinct tensions and speeds, presenting a learning curve as improper adjustments can lead to the yarn slipping and tangling. I had to attempt several times with each yarn switch, which is why I rated it four stars. After initially rolling up the yarn, I realized that incorporating a tube into the roll would allow me to place the ball onto a roller/spindle for later use. I managed to trim a paper towel tube and adjust it to fit over the unit before rolling, and this was a good solution. Yes, I recommend this item. ... show more

I’m an intermittent knitter, but now that two of my kids are knitting and crocheting, I have so much yarn in the house. Someone is always rolling a skein (or not rolling and asking me to untangle a mess!). I picked this up on a whim and really thought it would be a disappointment. It wasn’t! We all LOVE this little tool. I love … — The ease of setup. It just attaches to a table and you’re off. It is SO easy to use that my 10yr old set it up and rolled every skein of yarn he could find all on his own. — It really makes a nice yarn ball (more like a donut than a ball) that has perfect tension. I don’t like hand-winding because I fear my yarn will get stretched or wound too tightly, but this tool keeps the tension perfect through the whole ball. — Once balled, the yarn comes off really nicely. It comes off the machine easily, and then you can pull from the center or the outer edge. Either way works well and eliminates tangles or tension irregularities because you don’t have to keep pulling the yarn to unroll it from the ball or a skein. This Yarn Winder is probably one of the coolest devices I've tried in a while. I love winding yarn and this device makes it fun. When the device arrived, I was skeptical about the cheap plastic this yarn winder was made of. After trying it though, I was amazed at how well it actually works. This device is super easy to use and takes the hassle of winding yarn down to just a few minutes. It's so easy to use, that my kids have been winding my endless loads of yarn and loving it. This set up in minutes and worked well to wind my yarn into a cute little cake! I think these cakes will stack better on my shelves than the various balls, skeins etc I currently have. It is possible to tangle the yarn while winding, so you do need to pay attention to what you are doing, however this seems much easier to use than some yarn winders I have tried in the past. ... show more
