I purchased this for my 9 yr old crafty grandson who had expressed an interest in weaving when he saw me using my loom. He easily picked up the craft on this Natl Geographic loom. The only thing I wish is that the loom were a bit larger. This being said howevver, I've actually used the loom to weave coasters, LOL. They say that it's easy to do but my 8-year-old had a lot of trouble figuring it out that's the only reason why I'm sending it back I think it's an awesome art project but not for my son thank you so much Amazon is number one.

My daughter is 8 and I was hoping she would be able to follow the instructions and complete this craft on her own. She was very motivated and the designs are very pretty, but sadly the instructions are not very clear at all. Everything about this kit is bad. The loom is flimsy, the needle is too large and unwieldy, the instructions are obtuse, two of the three patterns are too difficult for beginners (your kid won't be doing this alone!), the patterns look ugly when finished, and the materials are frustrating to work with. I'm an adult who has made several tapestries before on other looms. This kit just isn't fun, and it'll be too difficult for a beginner of any age. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I love products from National Geographic. Not only do they give you the items you need to make cool stuff, but they include booklets that are colorful and informative and give you history and or science etc behind everything your kids or you are going to do. Not only do you get a really nice wooden Arts and Crafts Loom, this Weaving Kit for Kids (and or kidult kids at heart grandma's like me 😁) includes pretty, vibrant, colorful varied 🧢 yarn & 3 Fun Designs Kids Can Easily Weave. I got this to do with my mom in her 80s, actually. But she passed 😭. But I find it therapeutic to try the weaving methods they suggest. The rainbows are my favorite, of course.     • Fun weaving project for kids
My son and I love doing projects together and while he was a little young for this one, we had fun doing it together. This kit includes everything you need, you just need your own scissor. The instructions are very easy to follow and I like that they also include a bit of history about weaving and how looms work. There is enough thread to complete three different projects and they can be hanged after they are finished. The set up took a bit of trial and error but after that, my son was able to weave the thread back and forth pretty much by himself. It definitely took us a few tries to get the hang of it, but our projects turned out really nice in the end. The loom isn't the most sturdy, but it does the job for a beginner project. My niece loves this as a gift as she likes weaving and crafting. Got all the tools she needed. The wooden loom is sturdy, wooden eye needle and bamboo dowels.
