This little gadget is amazing. Set up was very easy a kid could do it. I have some yarn that needs to be neatly arranged and this gadget will be a great help. I really like knitting or crocheting from a yarn cake. I suggest to wind slowly steady pace to make the yarn cake look even and beautiful. It's easy to pop off yarn cake when done. Easy to use. Worth getting. I liked this one cause there is a knob that tightens and loosens the clamp. To get it to really stay you can also put velcro on the bottom. The instructions that came with it were not helpful but I just youtubed to find help and after that it was no problem. It will not wind thick yarn like bernat blanket but it did wind bernat velcro without ant problems. It winds more to a cake than a ball and the resulting cake is small but big enough for my needs. I think you really do have to use it to know just how much yarn it will wind for you. Im glad I bought this even though it was delivered late (usps issues). I believe this will help organize scrap yarn. The snipper, plastic yarn needles and markers that came with it were also great and better quality than ones I have bought. ... show more

I got this to try and clean up my yarn stash because holy moly. It gets the job done but not the best. It tends to start losing its grip on the table and rocks around while I'm spinning it. This is a very economical ball winder. I needed a new one for my Christmas knitting, and I found this one at a good price for the task at hand. My only difficulty with it is that the steel wire that's meant to keep the tension often wiggles out of place mid-winding, but I genuinely can't complain, the important thing is it winds up quickly and makes a nice center-pull cake. ... show more

So sick and tired of yarn getting tangled. Heard this would help. The yarn threader never stayed locked resulting in my yarn constantly getting caught underneath and getting stuck in the gears. Ruined my yarn and my will to crochet. Thought it might have been me but then it was happening constantly regardless of how many times I tried adjusting.
