The 42" cutting deck is 3 in 1 capable for mulching (mulch kit included), side discharge (standard) and bagging. (bag is optional) The 6-position fender-mounted deck adjustment offers easy, convenient operation. The cutting deck height can be adujsted from 1 1/4" to 4". Our Autodrive transmission is engineered to drive like a car with smooth, clutch-free, foot- pedal control and infinite speed adjustment. Cruise control is available for larger lawns. The fully welded, all steel step-thru tractor frame is Yard- Man's most durable heavy-duty frame. Perfect for adding all available attachments. The cast-ion pivoting front axle allows the tractor to ride over uneven terrain while maintaining an even and professional cut. Cat-iron provides increased durability. The 18" tight turm steering radius for better maneuvering around landscaping. Ammeter is included. The 15" x 6" front and 20" x 8" rear wheels provide added traction when taking on big jobs. We even provide a cup holder for your favorite beverage! Oil is included in the engine with shipment.

I purchased this Yard-Man Lawn Tractor on May 29, 2005 and it was delivered to my home on June 6, 2005. It arrived so fast, Amazon still shows the product in transit. When it arrived, it was packaged extremely well, no damage, scratches, dents or any problems what so ever. And the tires were all full of air. ABF did a fantasic job of delivering my Yard-Man Tractor. Because I reside in a private residence, I required a lift-gate, which did not cost me a penny more. My Yard-Man traveled all the way across the country in seven days. Thanks ABF. As far as the tractor itself, all I needed was to add gas and it fired right up. Test drove it up & down my street, where it ran perfectly. And that 20hp V-Twin has the power and torque to satisfy my requirements. Amazon was great as usual. The price was at least $300 less than every other place I checked, including locally and over the internet. And I really enjoyed not paying any sales tax and completely free shipping, which added an additional $300 in savings.     • This is one awesome tractor!
My Yard-Man arrived today and I just finished mowing my 3/4 acre lawn with it. I was blown away! It took me 1/3 of the time as my old push mower. I bought the optional grass catcher from buymtdonline.com and only had to empty it 5 times for the whole lawn. I highly recommend the grass catcher. The tractor arrived crated and fully assembled minus a few minor items (like screwing on the steering wheel and seat). I filled it up with gas, checked the oil (which was full) started it up and took off. It was very easy to operate, the AutoDrive is really nice and was super easy to get used to. The lights are a really nice touch. I was so excited to try it, I mowed the lawn after sunset and had no problem doing so with the lights. I would absolutely buy this again and am really happy I didn't spend the extra $700 for a John Deere with the same specs. ... show more

    • Good product but lousy customer service from Amazon
Amazon states that any item over 25.00 is free shipping so I selected that option. Then was informed by the shipping company that I would have to unload it off of the truck myself. Then they stated that if I wanted a lift gate to get it off the truck I would have to pay 25.00 extra. What choice did I have but to do this as I cannot get it off of the truck by myself. Amazon misleads us by not making it a point to let the buyer know "before" checkout by using at a minimum a pop up that informs us of the issue that the buyer (us) would have to unload a 600lb+ mower off of a truck. Amazon states that the tiny link that is listed on the website informs the consumer of this but as I said it is a tiny link, almost hidden, because I am sure that if most read this link they would not purchase this item from Amazon. The irony is I was told by the Amazon customer service department that I did not choose to pay for the lift gate truck. Well guess what! There is no option in the checkout whereas you can choose this option. We are extremely disappointed with Amazon and their lack of ethics and concern for their customers for selling equipment that they should not be selling unless they have a better way of delivering heavy items to the customer. Even Walmart.com at a minimum takes it off of the truck for you! Shame on Amazon.com for conducting business in such a poor fashion. ... show more

I spent a month doing research before buying this model. I couldn't find a cheaper tractor with the same features anywhere else. By purchasing through Amazon.com, not only did I get the best price, but there was no tax and free shipping right to my garage door!     • Not Bad But MTD Customer Support terrible...
Tractor was delivered by ABF within a week of ordering! It was crated and the driver used the liftgate and brought it into my garage. i tipped him $20 for the effort.The tractor was in pristine condition. Lots of wood to remove. After an hour uncrating the mower and attaching the seat and sterring wheel I thought i had an issue becausue it would not start. I charged the (2004) battery but nothing worked just a little click. I called MTD "support." They told me it was a 2003 model and I may have recieved a used unit as Amazon was selling refurbished and used units. I assured him it was sold as new and had the warranty even though it was a 2 year old model, He told me I would have to take it to a warranty center for repair! No way. I don't have a trailer nor do I expect to have to do this before even using it!! I called Amazon and began the return process. In the meantime I called the local warranty center as listed on MTD website. they informed me they will no longer handle MTD warranty service due to financial issues and would charge me $50 for pick up, but were helpful in solving the "problem". Seems one has to be sitting on the tractor And have the brake pedal depressed to start it. Duh....never had one of these. It started right up and after a couple hours setting up the deck attaching the bagger, and aligning the front end, (the tires were overfilled) I ran the mower up the block and back in reverse. the Twin was smother then any single I had tried and it ran great. I cancelled the return and look forward to Springtime. I most definately do not look forwrd to having any dealings with MTD and would not buy another MTD product after this. Customer service is too important and should not be as shabby as my experience with MTD. ... show more
