The 170cc OHV Yardmax engine delivers maximum performance in this class of mower. The YG1650 features a high-rear-wheel design, and all wheels are equipped with durable 1.5” wide treads and with double ball bearings, all of which makes for easier pushing and for even cuts. Cut your lawn to your specifications by using a single convenient lever to select one of seven cutting heights, from 1.25” to 3.75”. The MaxFlow volute deck is designed to keep grass clippings airborne longer for superior mulching, or for flowing into the rear bag when needed. Should I Buy It?

Overall, for those prioritizing power and ease of use at a reasonable price, this mower is recommended.

  • Smooth running/cutting & easy adjustments
Style: Push Lawn Mower
Didn’t think I would love this mower, but definitely do! It was very easy assembly, its size is ideal, wheels are great, and it bags the grass beautifully! I especially like the ease of use all around…example, all four wheels adjust with a single lever!! No more individual wheel adjustments or wondering if they’re all on the same notch! With this, it’s as simple as a single lever! The bag comes off and back on very easily…it also comes with a side shoot if you want that…or, simply nothing on and mulch up your grass. Smooth cutting right out of the box, and after about15 mows, it has started every time, the first time. Pushes easily all around the yard and hills, with big enough wheels. I didn’t want a self propelled wheel system as it’s just one more lever to worry about as you go forward and back…and that’s ok, with me given how easily it pushes. Definitely recommend this mower, for it’s ease of use, quality and overall price! Even looks pretty slick! ... show more

  • Not what we expected at all.
Style: Push Lawn Mower
We selected this mower for a few reasons. Our old one died. We are older people who just don't have access to haul from the store. And finally the reviews for this one sounded really good. The reviews mentioned this mower starts right up easily with just 1 pull. No it does not! The cord pulls extremely hard and you really must yank several times to get it to start. It also is advertised as a easy mower to use. Easy, ok in the fact there are no bells and whistles (and no self propelled feature). This is a heavy mower that pushes really hard. If you are older with arthritis and other health problems then this machine will feel like it is killing you. When putting together the advertising, consideration should be made that customers come in all ages, walks, conditions and so many more categories. And not everyone has a young person who can help with this task. Truth in advertising is crucial. The catcher bag broke on the 1st use at a corner where there is a weld joint. And the flap on the back to stop things from flying out is breaking off. We will never again buy one of these brand mowers and I definitely don't recommend it for anyone unless you really want a headache. ... show more

  • Well-built push mover
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I chose this mower for my own home maintenance and it does very well. I'm completely satisfied with the construction and operation of the Yardmax 21" 3-in-1 mower. Rear bag, side discharge or mulch, it does it all and at a more affordable price than the ones in the local box stores. Having a single lever to change the cutting height for all 4 wheels at once is great as well. My mower came without oil, so I had to pick up some 10W-30 before I ran it the first time. ... show more

  • Yardmax YG1650 Lawnmower
Style: Push Lawn Mower
The mower came 4 days earlier than expected. Assembly was a little tricky but not too difficult. It started easy. There was smoke coming from the engine when it first started. I let it run for a couple minutes, turned it off, restarted, and it was fine. It's a heavy, sturdy mower. Nice even cut and 7 height levels to choose from. I mowed 1 acre of varying terrain. The Yardmax did a great job cutting higher grass; much better than my previous Craftsman and Lawnboy mowers. The only thing that would make it better is if it had a bar across the middle of the handlebars to make it easier to push on hills. But I am happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • My Cautionary Tale
Style: Push Lawn Mower
I don't enjoy giving bad reviews, but my experience is a cautionary tale for anyone considering making this purchase. The lawn mower I wanted from Lowe's was out of stock and this lawn mower appealed to me because of the price and the large rear wheel setup. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it would not start. I called the company and they suggested I take it to a local lawn mower shop to figure out what was wrong and get an estimate on repairs. They diagnosed it as a faulty primer pump not getting any gas to the engine. I contacted the company three more times to get a replacement part. Each time, they promised to email information on getting the part. Never got a single email on the two different email accounts I gave them. What's more, though, my extensive resume does not include 'small engine repair' on it and the shop I took it to was hesitant to work on it. And then there was the fact the manufacturer couldn't even get me an email. I finally went back to Lowes, saw the lawn mower I originally wanted, bought it, and it works great right out of the box. This lawn mower looks great, but if you decide to buy it and something goes wrong, you may find yourself where I ended up. With a really nice looking new lawn mower lawn ornament. ... show more
