You pay a bit of a premium for Yankee candles, but if you appreciate a consistent, great scent, that's the first thing that you will notice, one that fills the room with a nice aroma. The second, more subtle "pro" is the burn. With lesser candles, the wick isn't thick enough, or it is too thick, too short, or too long, or simple the wrong material, and what you end up with is a candle that burns straight down, leaving a wax circle. That's a lot of wasted wax! Yankee Candles have been around long enough for them to know the exact formula needed to provide the perfect wick for the perfect burn, from top to bottom. I love Yankee candles. I burn candles all the time. They burn evenly and don’t tunnel like the cheap ones. I especially love the vanilla scents. They’re really so calming. I’ve given them as gifts this past Christmas. Love them for the warm cozy feeling they give off.

Pro: I purchased this brand and Vanilla Cupcake candle because I wanted to freshen up my apartment and also have an emergency power outage candle for when we have those California rolling blackouts to prevent electrical fires during summer heatwaves when air-conditioners are in high use. I don't have one of those, but everyone is affected when our power company has to do it. I can rest easy with this candle in its own glass jar and it has a strong scent within a half hour of burning it that I'm not allergic to and my partner said he thinks it smells like a vanilla tapioca pudding rather than a cupcake, and I agree. My small senior apartment complex isn't allowed to have candles that aren't in a safe heat resistant glass container so this is perfect. It is important to trim the wick prior to using it and each time thereafter to 1/4". Instructions are listed on the product box. Keep out of drafts to lessen the wick smoking and extend the life of the candle. Con: We moved the candle from the bedroom to the living room (which is much larger) because the candle scent becomes very noticeable after about 20 minutes or less in each room. If you have a larger home (mine is 600 sq. ft.) it may take longer to fill the entire home. I'm not sure if that's a pro or a con, but I mention it because I suspect it depends more on how long you want to enjoy the pleasant light. I highly recommended it even though we are both sensitive to all fragrances. Hope that helps folks decide. I have enjoyed the second one I purchased even more because the weather has been pleasant enough to leave the windows open. Definitely a positive for me now! ... show more
