People lying about this thing tasting great as is. It's pure salt, little pork bone taste. It has no flavor depth so you gotta add an additional broth (4oz), half water (4oz), reduce that while adding a table spoon (not two) of this, add unsalted butter, a little soy sauce even though it might still be a little salty, roasted garlic + chili oil if you want. Then pour it over your noodles, egg, protein, veggies. All this is still faster than homemaking the pork bone broth though, which takes a whole day before. I purchased the Tonkotsu and will be trying more flavors soon. The flavors are rich and and I didn’t need to use as much as the recipe called for, so this bottle will go a long way. Cooked this with ramen noodles, chicken, spinach, corn, soft boiled egg, crispy fried onions, and a sesame chili oil drizzle. We kept the ingredients separate to a low everyone to “build your own ramen bowl”, which was a huge hit for my picky eaters. Flavor Name: Shoyu Ramen Broth
Unfortunately, I have various gastro issues and had to go gluten free as advised by my doctors. Not being able to eat ramen at Japanese restaurants still makes me sad but I've learned to make my own tare and broth at home so I can enjoy a nice bowl of gluten free ramen. However, for days when I'm feeling lazy, this concentrated broth + tare combo does the trick. I don't think it's as salty as other people say it is, in fact, I add a bit more than what is recommended on the bottle. It could have a bit more depth in flavor, but I'm nitpicking. Flavor Name: Shoyu Ramen Broth
I have purchased two varieties of this ramen sauce - Tonkotsu and Shoyu - both of these are fabulous but the Shoyu is my favorite of the two - it reminds me of a rich bone broth and it is absolutely over the moon incredible!! The Shoyu tastes best with chicken and beef and the Tonkotsu is super good with seafood (but it would be appropriate with any meat). The labels indicate they yield eight servings per bottle but I've found both varieties are so rich I can make a single bottle stretch for many more servings than that with no sacrifice of flavor! Paired with Hakubaku fresh ramen noodles (also available on Amazon) you have the two base ingredients necessary for creating restaurant quality fine ramen at home with total ease. These broths, along with the fresh noodles I just mentioned, are items I hope Amazon never stops carrying because I will be buying them over and over again! If it sounds like I'm infatuated - I am. I'm no expert on Pho...I only know that I like it's light quality and pleasant broth taste. I can't afford it though at my local area restaurants (Scottsdale AZ). BUT---this broth concentrate and the Japanese Ramen noodles I bought here (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013H9TX58psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details), I can get at least four $15 dollar comparable orders of PHO and satisfy my desire for a delicate soup. I didn't find it very salty (added small amount to my taste) and just added some cooked ramen noodles, shrimp, chicken ,asparagus, green beans, cabbage and onion and Voila had a great homemade-ish Pho. We LOVE ramen over here. It’s one of our favorite meals. We have a local ramen place but it’s $20 a bowl!! The last few months, we’ve set out to find the best broth base. It was a challenge. Too many were so salty, not enough flavor and so on. I finally took to Amazon and found this. Reviews looks good so I gave it a go. This is now our favorite tonkatsu broth ever! LOVE THIS! I have looked at many stores for a ramen broth similar to my favorite ramen shop so I can make it at home. This is it. A little goes a long way. The Tonkotsu and Shoyu flavors are rich and tasty. But my favorite is the Tonkotsu.
