... between can types. For now, the can-opener-top cans are the classic condensed mushroom soup. The "pop-top-can" mushroom soups are thinner, basically ready-to-eat. They are NOT the thick, condensed soup we grew up with. I suspect this is because the more-expensive-to-make traditional stuff is being phased out, eventually to be replaced by a lower-quality product due to inflationary costs (like Häagen-Dazs did, but pretends it didn't), and eventually we'll be left with only the lower-quality product. The eventual results of inflation make a difference, and can be disguised only until it can't. We are beginning to see this BIG TIME right now. ... show more

The texture is surprisingly smooth! The taste is good and very similar to the original Cream of Mushroom. It pairs well as a soup or gravy (use less milk) with mashed potatoes, and it will be great in recipes! I love the taste of the soup. it's great in so many different things because it's so versatile and it has a very unique flavor. however, along with a lot of other people, you get dented cans when you order online which is very irritating. if you can find it in the store you're better off getting it there. as it's a food product, you can't return to Amazon so you're going to have to live with dented cans. ... show more

The whole family loves this soup! sometimes I make rice other times noodles and we put the soup on top. Other times we dunk soft buns in it or just eat it straight up. This soup is very delicious and we always try to keep a few cans on hand.
