I bought this to support multiple vehicles in the family. One of the standout features of the Xtool D8S is its extensive vehicle coverage. It supports diagnostics for a wide range of makes and models, including both domestic and foreign vehicles. The tool can read and clear trouble codes from all major systems, such as the engine, transmission, ABS, and airbag systems. Another major reason I bought this tool is the availability to view modules in Topology view which can be very helpful in identifying and narrowing your focus in troubleshooting. This function is normally available in tools costing twice as much. the D8S has 38 special functions. One function I was intersted in was Key Programming and couldn't find it. I reached out to support and they responded within 24hrs and informed me that it is now located under the IMMO Reset special function. I was very happy to hear that and with the prompt response. Considering its features and capabilities, the Xtool D8S is competitively priced in the market. It offers excellent value for DIY home mechanics looking to invest in a reliable diagnostic tool without breaking the bank.     • Awesome Capability and ease of use
The media could not be loaded. I bought this tool specifically to fix a hybrid car problem. My 2005 Prius had the dreaded "triangle of Death" . For those who do not know, this means the car will not work in any way, but does not specify wether the problem is mechanical, electrical or both. With the Xtool D8 I hoped to find and fix the issue, and I was not disappointed. The D8 immediately connected to the car network, and presented several codes. the interface was great, and easy to click through the problem codes to get advanced diagnostic data, live and freeze frame data from the car canbus network, and help to use my skills to find and fix the root cause. The battery control computer was found faulty, and with some digging and visual inspection I was able to replace the part, and my Prius was back on the road. Since that time the D8 has helped me find problems in many cars and Trucks. from resetting transmission 'learning' mode to smooth out shifts, properly bleeding abs brakes, to adjusting fuel pressure and A/F ratios on light diesels. Even Identifying the notorious VTEC solenoid issues in Honda engines and Shift Errors in later GM truck transmissions. (Change the fluid often!) This tool has paid for itself many times over with advanced diagnosis saving the typical Parts Cannon Approach to fixing todays sophisticated automotive systems. While I am not a professional shop, I am considered by many friends and famiy to have advanced mechanical skills, with over 40 years of auto repair experience. In short, this is a very sophisticated tool that should definitely be added to any serious enthusiast toolbox. It has programmed keys and remotes for several cars, which alone is savings well beyond the purchase cost. I have paid a lot less for other tools, only to find they were worth it by doing a lot less. My only 'challenge' is that I wish I had bought the wireless option, but that is on me. Xtool has provided excellent customer support with software updates to cover all the latest developments in tech, as well as help me better understand how to use the equipment. I thought quite a bit about spending this much on a tool for my issues, and look back and consider one of the value purchases I have made. TL,DR: Great Product. Great Value!     • Everything I was looking for so far
I will preface this by saying I am an engineer by degree and profession, not a professional mechanic, but have been repairing, rebuilding and maintaining cars for almost 40 years. I spent months reading reviews and watching videos, looking for a tool that was very robust but wouldn't break the bank either in initial cost or by high recurring software renewal costs. The Xtool D8 has lived up to that expectation. I initially purchased an MK808 on Amazon, but returned it within 2 days after finding most of the special features were only enabled on a very few models, there was no bi-directional test functionality, and the unit was exceedingly slow performing any operation. When I found the Xtool, it looked to be a great option and when the price dropped for black Friday, I made the investment. So far it has met all my expectations and performed great. I have used it on my 2006 Acura TL, 2003 Lexus ES300, 2002 Mercedes ML500, and 2010 Audi Q7 and it has consistently proved to be significantly faster performing all operations and has numerous special features for each of the models I have used it on so far, including several similar functions to my RossTech VCDS tool. I was able to track down issues with my satellite radio and Nav system and the SW automatically populates all the scan info into a report that you can access even after the scanner is removed from the vehicle. As others have mentioned, there are dangers to having this much access, but the D8 has several warning screens to help keep you from doing something that could disable your vehicle. Use the advanced features only if you know what you are doing. 3 years of free SW updates is a great perk and the update cost is reasonable after that, considering it includes updates to all manufacturer types, not just one at a time. The customer support has also been very responsive so far. I had a few questions initially and received a response within a day. When I initially purchased it, the price dropped even more within a day, and they responded within hours when I asked to receive the lower price and credited the difference. I plan to use this tool when looking to purchase cars for my sons and I look forward to continued productivity with this tool. I would definitely recommend the Xtool D8. ... show more
