Couple of things going on here. How hard would it be to include simple instructions the actually apply to the winch that was purchased. Not hard to figure out, and thanks to others for posting accurate instructions. 2 low grade bolts mounting a 3000 lb winch, I'm not an engineer, but I'm scratching my head to a potential fail here. I replaced the mounting bolts with stronger grade bolts. The plate supplied is pretty much worthless in most ATV applications, but might come in handy if you are attaching to something else, like a trailer. The fairlead fits the supplied plate, but won't fit a standard ATV plate, purchase separately. The wired switch seems good, and the remote (5 second both button hold to turn on) is pretty stellar. I haven't pulled the line to see if it measures beyond 30', but I am utilizing mostly for a snow plow, so it won't be necessary. Mounted on a '16 Polaris Sportsman 570 with a WeiSen Bracket from Amazon (winch mounts upside down with this bracket). ... show more

    • Worst Instruction Manual Ever

The wiring diagram in the manual is for a different winch setup and therefore confusing. Also, the installation kit is incomplete. However, the winch works great so far. Here is what you need to know: 1) The red and black solenoid wires go to the battery; the blue and yellow wires go to the winch. This part is self explanatory as the solenoid and winch are clearly marked, but the instruction manual gets it wrong. 2) Make sure to connect the short red wire from the switch to the ignition switch. It’s written in the manual but you really have to search for it and the wiring diagram confusing matters. Finally, the switch doesn’t have the necessary length of wire needed (at least it didn't for my application). 3) Remote control: hold both the in and out buttons on the remote for 5 seconds until you see the red light, otherwise you might assume the remote doesn’t work. See the stamped directions on the back of the remote. These last two issues led me to believe the winch or solenoid might be faulty and could have been easily avoided with a better instruction manual. Amazon makes reporting issues to the seller very easy. Seller responded to all questions promptly and eventually helped me get the switch installed correctly. I figured out the remote by pure luck of seeing the stamped instructions on the back. Overall, I like the winch but it doesn’t come installation ready. I found it difficult to locally find 6 gauge wire, terminal ends and butt connectors to extend the short blue and yellow wires. Finally, the manual talks about the requirement for a circuit breaker but according to the seller this winch doesn't require one, but also warned not to exceed the duty cycle of 5% (45 seconds of continuous operation at max capacity requires 14 min/ 15 sec. rest time--also not specified in the manual). Would I buy again? Yes, now that I know how to install it. But to get 5 stars it would need to have a much better installation manual with correct wiring diagram and wireless remote instructions, include longer blue and yellow wires, and a longer red wire for the switch. If using on an ATV, it might work without these, but that wasn't my application. ... show more

First time out with my kart I got stuck in 12 inches of moose muck. I mean it was stuck solid. I would have had to leave the kart there if not for this little winch I put on just to look cool. I just ran the line out to a near tree and started winching. It stranded a bit because the kart was like in concrete. But out came the kart slicker then bear snot. Well recieved winch...went to open package so far so good...read instructions to the letter...proceeded to put together....all looks good..installed winch per instructions...winch works as advertised....now things went bad...I tryed to activate remote several times..it dosnt turn on ...no lights nothing...contact amazon...was told its not there POLICY to replace defective items...WELL ITS NOT MY POLICY TO BUY BUSTED ITEMS...so far haven't heard a response from seller...at this time...NOT TO HAPPY....I guess I'll see what there customer service is like..buyer beware....I'll let yall know.. UPDATE...after send my problem with the remote of this new winch the folks at XPV responded in an email...They are sending me a new controller and remote...its to arrive here in the next few weeks..I'll let yall know ...update...recieved new controller and remote...company responded well satisfied...works as intended ... show more
