  • Just like the Big Shot
I am not entirely sure that the product I got was completely new, it might have been a returned item. The magnetic mat was unused, but the die cut mat and embossing mat both had scuff marks on them. I figured I keep it anyway... this looks exactly like the Sizzix Big Shot. It also cost more than the Evolution Advance, but is a lot less functional. This model is WRMK efforts to copy the Big Shot. The only difference is you get to have the magnetic mat come with it... otherwise, even the mats are the same size as the standard Big Shot, so it's really exchangeable with one another. The Revolution is more expensive than the EA, even though it does a lot less. The EA is foldable, comes with a set of die cuts, the hand crank is removable and there's an option for a motorized crank instead, and you have the suction cups on the bottom to hold it in place... it's also completely silent. Die cutting will cut into your magnetic mat. This sounds like the mats are being crunched when going through the rollers (just like the Big Shot)... it is a lot less lighter compared to the EA, which definitely had a weighted feel to it. Right now, it doesn't seem as if you can buy replacements for the mats. If you're on the fence, I would say get the Big Shot (which cost about the same, minus a magnetic mat); or get the Evolution Advance instead. ... show more

  • The price and the magnetic plate.
I love the magnetic plate. Great for keeping the dies in place. The machine cuts the paper really well. My only concern is that the dies do leave an imprint in the top of the magnetic plate and I wonder with continued use how that will affect the paper, like push the marks into future die cuts. The top of the magnetic plate doesn’t appear to be self healing well. Only time will tell if this machine and the plates still preforms well. ... show more

  • I wish i could had kept it
The size was perfect, but unfortunately it kept giving me a hard time many times i tried to cut dies. Sometimes the roller didn’t move the pieces so i had to return it and purchased instead the Big Shot Plus, which works great but it is almost double the size of this one.

  • It may get your attention, save your money!
I never imagined it would be so difficult to use, I never got to die cut anything I could use. The cutting pad warped, it was so difficult to run the sandwich through. The 1 page instruction sheet did not offer help. It was so disappointing and frustrating. It was the worst and only birthday present I ever bought myself. ... show more

  • My favorite die cutting machine right now!
This might be way more than you ever wanted to know about die cutting machines. For the past 25 years I have been an avid paper crafter. For reference I own these machines: We R Memory Keepers Revolution, Sizzix Big Shot, Gemini Jr., Spellbinders Platinum 6, Tim Holtz Vagabond 2, Altenew Mini Blossom, Sizzix Sidekick, CTMH machine, Brother Scan n' Cut, Cricut Explore Air 2, Cricut Joy, and a We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution. Previously I had the Big Shot Plus, but I gave it to my daughter to cut fabric squares and other projects (it was way too large for my craft area). I have used all of these machines at various times. The We R Memory Keepers Revolution Machine is my favorite right now. I love the size, the big handle on top, the color is perfect (it makes me happy when I look at the beautiful color), the magnetic platform is awesome (the best one I've ever used, very strong magnet), and cranking is smooth. I've experienced much less warping of the plates than with other machines. I mostly make cards and this is the perfect size for me. I've included a photo, but it was taken at night so it's a bit dark. It's fun to rotate through different machines depending on what I'm doing. If you are curious about my experiences with these machines, please read the notes below. Big Shot: actually I'm done with Sizzix after they started filing lawsuits against other craft companies (will be getting rid of this one). Also, my handle started to bend and it's all wacky now so I will probably donate. Gemini Jr: this is nice if you have a lot of stuff to cut at once because it's all automatic. This is really nit picky, but I do not like the bright purple color of the writing on the machine and it's loud (I craft to relax and the noise this machine makes is not relaxing). I also don't like fiddling with so many plates. Jennifer McGuire has a great video about making a taped sandwich so you don't have to deal with all the different plates. I understand it makes the machine more versatile to have all the plate options, but it's something that irks me a bit. This is a great machine if you have wrist or arm issues. Spellbinders Platinum 6: This is a great machine and I like the performance. Once again this is nit picky, but I'm not a fan of the color and the recessed handle drives me nuts, I can't get my fingers in there easily. I like how compact the machine is and it really is a work horse. I find my plates get pretty warped, but as most machines, you need to rotate them. Tim Holtz Vagabond 2: This is nice if you have the older style dies and you are going to cut a lot, it's electric. The machine is made by Sizzix so I will probably get rid of this one. I'm hoping Tim Holtz will strike up a relationship with a different manufacturer because he's fabulous! Once again this is nit picky, but the color and style aren't my favorite. It matches Tim's vibe, but it's not for me. Altenew Mini Blossom: This is a cute little machine to keep at your work table, but it doesn't have a way to suction down very well and I can't find replacement plates (they are always sold out). I like the size of the cutting plates on this one (a bit bigger than the Sizzix Sidekick). Sizzix Sidekick: Once again, probably selling and saying goodbye to Sizzix. The suction to your worktable is good on this one, but the cutting area is just a bit too small (the Altenew Mini Blossom and We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution have a larger cutting area). CTMH machine: I really love this machine. It has an adjustable dial for die cutting and embossing, which is really nice to tweak what you are doing. It has a nice suction grip that engages to your work station, the sides fold up, there are two storage compartments, the top handle is great, and the size can handle bigger projects (scrapbooking). The color is nice and I enjoy using it. We R Memory Keepers Mini Evolution: I really love this machine and it stays on my work table at all times. It can handle about 75% of the die cutting that I do. It's small and easy to grab. I did a comparison of the quality of cutting between this one and the Sizzix Sidekick and Altenew Blossom. The Mini Evolution had a much cleaner cut than the other two machines (for the comparison I used a stitched heart die). Brother Scan n' Cut: This is nice if you are cutting a bunch of stuff (think Holiday cards). It doesn't give as nice of a finished edge as using the dies that accompany stamp sets, but it's nice to have if you are going to do a lot. It's a big, electric machine so it takes up a lot of space and you need to monkey around more than with a manual machine. It's also pretty expensive. Cricut Explore Air 2: This is a fun machine, but expense. There are tons of things you can do with it, but like the Brother Scan n' Cut, it's a large machine so it takes up a lot of craft room space and I find it more time consuming to use. I find that I don't use this or the Scan n' Cut very often. Cricut Joy: This is a machine that I recently purchased and it's fun so far. The only thing that's irritating me is the card mat seemed to loose it's tack after only a few cards. It's pretty expensive (the price should be about $85 not $170). It's really cute and small and I love the color. It's nice for card makers. I was able to make some really cute cards with only a few taps on the app. So, in summary right now I'm using the We R Memory Keepers Revolution and Mini Evolution as my two main die cutting machines. The only ones I'm planning to get rid of right now are the Sizzix ones. ... show more

  • Disappointed
So disappointed with this purchase. This machine is suppose to be brand new, the die cut and embossing are scratched up and the magnetic mat is used. The machine is very hard to handle. The platforms don’t go through the rollers. I am so upset that I wasted my money on this machine. Going to return.

  • Tearing up folders/mat
I just received a replacement for the first on I ordered. Unfortunately it is doing the same thing as 1st one. It is only wanting to pull the embossing mat thru. When it does pull the sandwich thru it is tearing up the embossing mat and embossing folder. I am doing it exactly as show in the We R Memory Keepers Revolution video. I highly recommend purchasing a different product. ... show more
