    • Still got a used unit, but it works well
This is the 2nd unit I've received from Amazon for this product from this seller that showed previous signs of use when it arrived. The first one still had paper stuck in the shredder track and smelled a bit "smoky" so I returned that and requested a NEW unit since that is what I actually purchased. The replacement arrived today and while there were no signs of use in the actual "track" of the shredder, once I got it out of the box and opened it, there were several small bits of shredded paper in the basket, paper dust, and an area in the dust where you could tell something had previously lain. I'm not sure why they keep sending out USED equipment to people who are buying a NEW product, but I'm not exactly thrilled about that. However, we will be moving, and I really need to get a bunch of things shredded that have PMI, banking, and social security information on them, so since this unit looked pristine other than the inside of the basket, I just unboxed it, turned it on, and started using it. It works great. It is one of the quietest shredders I've ever used and I have ears as good as most dogs or children, so I detest loud noises. I was able to sit in front of it for 15 minutes and shred away without being bothered. As one other person mentioned, the credit card/CD shredder portion only shreds it into 3-4 small pieces but you can still put the card back together and read all the information. As such I just ran those through the regular paper track and they shredded into tiny little pieces just like the paper does. I love that the shredder comes with the wheels already on it and ready to plug in and go. I already have chain oil in the house, so I will be all set to lubricate the tracks as needed. I did not test out the reverse function yet, but I will do that next. The interior of the basket does get quite dusty, so I am using grocery bags as a liner. It shreds things so small that it will make great cat litter to use in our self-cleaning litter box between litter changes. The shredder itself is larger than I expected, but still small enough to fit under my desk so the office looks a little less cluttered, but it is also nice enough to have sitting out in plain sight. I shredded for a solid 15 minutes and the machine did not overheat, did not turn off, and did not smell "hot" at the end of that time. The basket is super easy to remove and replace. There's a smaller cup that goes inside the basket to catch the things you run through the credit card/CD slot, but since I won't be utilizing those I have repurposed it and moved it to the front exterior of the unit to throw staples, paperclips or binder clips in as I'm going through my piles of things to shred. That way I can reuse the clips again. I've heard you shouldn't shred window envelopes in these, but I removed the mail from the envelopes, shredded the paperwork, then put the envelope through after that and it shredded those just fine. I mean, if it can handle plastic cards and CDs, it should be able to handle a window envelope. The cats weren't sure what to make of the new monster that made noise in the office, but now that its off they're checking it out. I'll keep it unplugged until I need to use it just in case though. ... show more

    • No Regrets With This Purchase Yet!
This purchase was made to update the features/abilities that my old shredder didn't possess. Noise level doesn't bother me. The quality has been very good (owned for a couple of months - may be to soon to judge.... I will follow up in Feb to update it's consistency in performance. The size is excellent for me - this way I don't have to dump as often! Love the mobility of wheeling it from its standing location to out in LR / DR if cleaning out old papers and am in need of larger area to sort thru & just roll it back to its parking area! So glad I treated myself to upgrading to this level shredder... old one was small, and not up to date with cross cutting or credit card shredding abilities. So nice to not have to argue w/shredder and have the no jamming capabilities that the little one did not have!!! Saves time w/this shredders perks! ... show more

Using this in our home office. I’m susceptible to loud noises. This machine is quiet in comparison to so many I have used through the years. It’s also been very easy for my elderly family member to use.

    • Great Woolsche Shredder
The Woolsche CD290P Micro Cut Paper Shredder shreds to 2 x 14 mm. It is a P-4 level cross cut shredder and is good for shredding unclassified materials. It is not approved for CUI material. The machine is the quietest shredder I have ever owned. I've had this a month and haven't had any issues.

    • Jammed the first time I used it
It says it can shred up to 18 sheets of paper at a time. I was shredding maybe 4-8 and it jammed, and continues to jam each time I use it. I am unable to get all the paper out of the spool.
