This Wolverine microcut shredder is all it's description says it is. It is incredibly quiet, powerful, and fast. it's a silent beast. Well built, despite what some of the naysayers allege, and did I say quiet, it really is. I'm told there is very little needed maintenance, perhaps a lubricant sheet every 50 or so loads, I was advised. It is big and heavy, but rolls nicely on the casters. There was no assembly needed, ready to go out of the box. Another awesome feature is the wonderful customer support team, who reply promptly and really care that the customer is happy. I'm so glad I bought the wolverine. All the cheaper shredders I've owned pale in comparison to this machine. Super quiet, powerful, cross cut action that produces P5 level shredding. I do not use a bag inside the bin. When full, I simply put a garbage bag over the bin and flip to dispose of the contents. I use a shop vac to clean any waste on the floor. ... show more

Despite the plastic finish and the almost archaic basic buttons, and despite the fact that I received it non-functional due to a contact that came out of its slot and made the grinder unusable (see photos), surely due to transport because it is a little heavy, it's a good grinder compared to several others. It took less than an hour to shred the 16 inches of paper that had been piled up for several months, without overheating or faltering. Pleasantly discovered how strong, quiet, and efficient this unit is. In fact, the only objection I have is that the transfer of "chips" can be messy if you don't take the time to insure 100% containment - not easy to do. Otherwise, you wind up with a million tiny pieces going everywhere, and they're not easy to pick up, since you shouldn't do it with a vacuum lest you quickly clog up your other machine. Our previous 8-year-old shredder died. So, started researching brands, types of shred, safety features, etc. Decided to order the Wolverine 15 sheet P5 (micro cut) shredder. It is so superior to our last shredder (staples professional shredder) it's really an amazing shredder and so quiet! It is pricey, but believe it'll make my life so much easier reducing our files, statements, irs info, etc. FYI: it can accept a large trash can bag (13 gal) in the bin - just tuck the front of the bag below the white closure clips. ... show more

Purchased this for a small business office. We returned this for the following reasons: 1. The "full" button didn't work. At this price point, we should be able to trust that the basic machine functions are operable. 2. The interior basket is too small. There are large grooves on the inside (see to right of photo). When we shred paper--even when the basket is empty--the paper spilled all over the grooves, into the bottom of the container, and when we removed the basket, all over the floor. Because the shreddings are so fine, it created a large mess. The paper bits became stuck in the carpet, and we ended up tracking bits of paper all over the office. (By contrast, other brands have their basket fit flush against the interior edge, and very few shreddings spill outside the basket.) TIPS: If you purchase this machine: 1. Keep a vacuum with a hand-held attachment nearby. Plan to vacuum the interior ledges, bottom of the unit, and the surrounding floor on a regular basis. 2. Make sure it doesn't fill up all the way. If the "full" light doesn't work, as with the machine that we purchased, you will need to check the basket often to make sure it doesn't get too full. It is a BIG mess to clean up. ... show more
