I wasn't sure about buying this after reading all of the reviews. I put this up over a double door. I think most people put them up over a single door. The reviews were right about assembly. The instructions are vague. Make sure you figure out what to do before you actually assembly it. The panels are not square. Once I had it partially assembled my son and I mounted it to the house (brick) I predrilled the holes and loosely mounted the center brace. We then mounted each side assembly. It was a lot of monkey business, but we got it. All in all it took 6 hours from start to finish. It rained shortly after we mounted it and it works really well. We will see about long term durability but right now I am pleased. ... show more

We needed a sturdy awning over the back door that would stand up to wind, rain & snow. This awning with the aluminum brackets and solid polycarbonate sheets is the answer! Okay, the included instructions are clear as mud. But after watching a few videos on Youtube and coming up with a couple of tricks of our own, the installation went very smoothly and quickly. Took my husband and I about 2 1/2 hours from start to finish. Handy hint...when installing the rubber sealing gasket around the sheet, use good quality masking tape to hold it in place until you are ready to put the sheets into the brackets. Then carefully peel off the tape as you work the sheet into the bracket grooves. We also used a ratcheting strap (carefully) to hold the unit together as we lifted it into place, as shown on one of the Youtube videos and that worked great. These are much stronger than some other awnings. I can literally do a pull-up on this. With the metal brackets and polycarbonate sheet, the awning can handle snow load and should last a long time.

Structurally sound with good engineering design. Not something just thrown together. Highly suggest you use your own mounting hardware though.

This one came with a small crack. Since I had already scheduled my contractor to install it, it wasn't worth returning or replacing it and rescheduling my contractor. My contractor added glue to it. I'm uncertain how long it will hold.
