I bought this for my cat food operations and do not regret it. I bought his model because it's rated to handle bones, while the smaller models are not. It's easy to clean and sanitize. It grinds up chicken bones (bone-in thighs) very easily. You don't have to cut up the chicken thighs at all; they'll fit whole. I've used it four times already and it makes quick work of everything. Pro tip: Run your organ meats through first, then the chicken, that way you don't have to clean the end piece and blades twice to clear it of cartilage. I have only used it to grind meat and bones for my dogs but it has changed my world. Absolutely love it. Heavy. Quiet. Great quality and easy to clean. I would highly recommend it for my fellow dog owners that only feed their dog raw food. Grinds chicken bones like they don’t even exist.

This machine is a workhorse. It ground four whole chickens, which were cut just small enough to fit through the top hole. It ground bone and all so fast that I wished I had more to process that first time. I also alternated raw spinach leaves and whole carrots with the chickens. I used the larger grinding plate first. Then ran everything through the smaller plate. We now feed our puppy, who was a stray 'Pure Bred White County Black Dog', raw food because he was itching so much. Within two weeks, his coat is shiny, teeth are sparkling and his fur is growing back. Can't wait to use this to make venison burgers this fall and bunny burgers in the spring for us. ... show more

I purchased this grinder because I switched my dogs to a raw diet and they are all seniors, over 12. My Yorkie has no teeth at all and one of my other ones has only a few left in the back. They cannot chew up bones and big chunks of meat. I also saw the larger grinder, the 1HP and I really wanted that but it was not available so I purchased this and it has been fantastic. I grind every 2 weeks and even though it is not really intended for bones, it will power through turkey necks and even a whole rabbit and oxtails with no problems at all. It doesn't make any strange sounds or slow down either. It is sturdy, well-made and actually way quieter than I would have expected. Very impressed with this grinder and if I need to purchase another one in the future I will get a Weston. I highly recommend this to anyone, especially if your dogs are on a raw diet. Works great, handles everything thrown at (in) it so far with ease. Chicken bones have not been a problem at all, haven't tried anything more substantial. I just set recieved and set up this unit. Should this be leaning to one side? (The motor side) Also the tray is crooked. The receiver pin for the head is not at 12:00 so it sits crooked. This makes the meat tray crooked. Is this normal for anyone else? Looks like I have 2 flaws. If I have the machine set up in front of me with the meat coming out the left side. The tray leans towards me and the machine sits lower on the right side than the left. Not cool for 500beans. ... show more
