This is my second grinder, my first one was from another company and lasted about 6 years - I thought it was great, lots of power and was really loud. This LEM Big Bite #5 is blowing my mind. You can have a conversation over it while it's grinding. Before I would have to wear headphones and warn my neighbor I was going to be grinding meat (no joke) so he could close his back door. When I first turned it on I didn't think it switched on. It just works so well and much easier than my old grinder. - Super quiet. - Super powerful, processes chicken thighs with bone without any bogging. - Makes really great hamburger. - Grinding pan on top is large and very secure, you can load it with a lot of meat or vegetables. - Cleans up really quick and easy. My only negative feedback: - Fluid from the grind can make it's way backwards so it leaks out a little from where the grinder meats the motor. - I do wish there was a grind plate in between the small and medium included. I'm using this to make dog food and the smallest grind would be awesome for sausage, and the biggest grind lets too large of bone fragments through. I feel like this was entirely a good purchase and worth the money, I hope it lasts as long as my old one. ... show more

I appreciate the quality every time my wife & I use it: - It's **Very Quiet**, which indicates to me that it has a strong motor. It just purrs along and handles everything just like a butcher shop. - It's also a real bargain! I would buy it again even if priced higher!! - Best of all, my wife Took to it in a Flash, ...and started making massive amounts of Thai sausage. I bought this for deer processing after trying other less expensive brands that were frustrating to use. This ground up venison with ease. I double ground it, and the second pass was a little bit more work due to bagging the meat thru the biggest sausage tube. This ground up a small deer in very short order. Unlike other meat grinders on the market made of plastic and aluminum that fall apart after grinding up 1 deer, this bad boy is DUTY RATED. Nothing is cheap or flimsy. Parts are stainless steel - not aluminum and plastic like cheaper grinders. I've burned through several of those grinders over the years. The meat grinder came with an uneven blade and because of that it kept gettting clogged up and needed removal and cleaning of the plate every 1/2 lb of grinding, also it makes noise like it goes under load in every revolution like something is out of balance. called them up not much help. Not having any experience with meat grinders I started looking up possible issues found out the blade has to be perfectly flush with the plate but the blade on this machine has a very large gap in the mid section and the edges of the blade catches on the plate. I tried fixing it by evenly resurfacing the blade and it is working better but still goes under load in every rotation like something is catching I am not over-tightening the main retainer ring Very disappointing ... show more

No plastic except a bushing at the back of the head unit. Very easy to assemble/disassemble and clean. Powers thru brisket, chuck roast, pork loin, chicken. On occasion you may need to stop mid way thru if doing a large batch of something with a lot of silver skin to just clean off between the blade and extrusion plate but this takes less than a minute or two.
