Features

  • 105 EPOXY RESIN is the base material on which all WEST SYSTEM 105 System epoxy compounds are built. It is a clear, pale yellow, low-viscosity liquid epoxy resin. Blended at the correct ratio with one of 4 WEST SYSTEM hardeners, it cures to a high-strength solid that is functionally waterproof, highly resistant to moisture vapor. Based on which hardener you choose, it cures at a wide range of temperatures.
  • THIS EPOXY IS EASILY MODIFIED with WEST SYSTEM Fillers, Additives, and Pigments to create the necessary handling characteristics to suit the job at hand. Whether you need to create a pigmented coating, high-strength epoxy joints, a fairing compound, or low-friction surface, WEST SYSTEM 105 Resin is modifiable to meet your project's requirements.
  • COMBINED WITH WEST SYSTEM 205 Fast Hardener or 206 Slow Hardener at a 5-parts resin to 1-part hardener ratio, 105 Resin cures, developing superior physical properties at room temperature. It has excellent structural bonding properties, can be modified with fillers and additives, and will easily coat fiberglass other porous substrates.
  • COMBINED WITH BLUSH-FREE 207 Extra Clear Hardener at a 3-parts resin to 1-part hardener ratio, 105 Resin is excellent for coating and fiberglass cloth applications where an exceptionally clear, moisture-resistant, natural wood finish is desired. It will not blush or turn cloudy, even in humid conditions. Thin film applications roll out and tip off smoothly, requiring less sanding in preparation for finish coatings.
  • COMBINED WITH 209 Extra Slow Hardener at a 3-parts resin to 1-part hardener ratio, 105 Resin is especially well suited for general coating and structural bonding applications in extremely warm and/or humid conditions or when working time is needed at room temperature. Forms a clear, amber-colored solid with excellent physical properties and moisture-vapor resistance.

  • Best resins made.
My favorite resin

  • West System led the way in creating an epoxy that is usable by the average diy project person.
Many specialized epoxies are now available for specific uses or conditions. Some have developed epoxies similar to West System that are a 1:1 mix of resin to hardener, rather than the West System 5:1, which can make mixing easier, but with some basic knowledge West System 105 resin has the ability to accept various materials to thicken, and various hardeners to match conditions, making this product flexible to meet the needs of varying jobs. The product was exactly what I anticipated, the seller’s packaging left a lot of room for improvement. I expect epoxy resin, which has potential health hazards, to be shipped in a plastic bag, for containment if the container is damaged in shipment. I also expect packing inside the box to protect the container from damage. My shipment had neither. The can was badly dented, but luckily there were no leaks. I would not buy from this vendor again. ... show more

  • Easy once you understand the mix rate
What can be easier than a pump or two when mixing epoxy. That is all it takes is to pump the pump but know how much of each before you start. Once you know the ratio ( I made a little cheat sheet and taped it to the can) it is so easy. West system reputation for quality is excellent.

  • Dependable, West Systems never fails me
I build and repair RC gliders, I use West Systems because it's easy to mix, predictable pot time, and results are always great

  • Worked as expected
I was looking for a way to stiffen a 1" copper pipe birdfeeder I made. Concrete would have been cheaper but trying to get concrete down a 1" pipe would have been difficult and messy. The tensile and flex strength of epoxy is much higher than concrete too. I simply put a funnel on the top of the pipe and filled with West System 105 and 205 hardener, which makes the strongest set epoxy. The feeder is much stiffer now, probably like 1" galvanized pipe or better. It's filled just short of the lowest feeder arm but I'm going to fill the rest of it soon after drilling weep holes on the highest part of the arms, which I'll temporarily seal with tape as soon as the epoxy oozes out of the holes. Got to do some math now to figure how much to mix up. ... show more

  • Bad cans
Cans don't hold up, leak epoxy all over.

  • This is one of the BEST EPOXY SYSTEMS on the market.
Excellent Resin when mixed with West System 205 Hardner. They also make other hardeners with different cure times , for different applications. I have used this for many indoor/outdoor projects, and have seen it used extensively in the Marine Industry. Its pricey stuff, but it works. Can be used also for lamination of wood projects such as building a transom plate for an outboard motor. I would suggest getting the easy/fill spouts that go on different cans of the West System products. Makes mixing. FOOL PROOF and easy. ... show more
