  • Well Built Cargo Rack
Style: Cargo
Pretty sure I put the paniers on it backwards because the reflective tape is in front. Only reason I didn't give five stars overall for this cargo rack is that the kit didn't contain enough washers for all the hardware and I had to make a trip to the hardware store to get more.

  • Seems solid quality, assembly a bit of a challenge
Style: Cargo
It was a 2.5 hour build for me, a novice with virtually no experience with bicycles. Instructions were severely lacking. The drawings were not clear enough to even be sure what the parts were, let alone how to put them together. The text was a very tiny font, white on brown, and extremely difficult to read. Most of the assembly for me was based on intuition rather than instruction. Still, now that it's done it seems pretty solid. I foresee no issues there. ... show more

  • First impressions
Style: Cargo
My husband and I just installed this bike rack on my daughter's daily ride that she takes to the bus stop and back weekdays--typically a 18 minute bike ride one way. Her backpack is silly heavy (14 lbs before she adds water bottle & lunch--I just weighed it). She has been putting it in a front metal basket, but after we broke our second basket in three months, I thought we should step up our game and find a sturdy rear rack that can hold some weight to cart this pack on her bike. We have not figured out how to get her Jansen backpack on the cart to test it out yet--I'll probably attach a milk crate in some manner--but I wanted to share our experience with assembly. First, it will take some time and patience, so be sure you've had a snack and a good night's sleep. Second, the video is directionally helpful, but way too fast and without much zoom-in detail to be truly helpful. Not sure if YouTube charges by the second, but that is what it felt like. As others have mentioned there are 3 sizes of bolts--with no explanation as to why. It took trial but our recommendation is to use the longest bolts for the first step--pre-assembling the brackets that will brace onto the bike supports. Save the shortest for the double-ended rod. And use the rest wherever it makes sense. Fortunately, we had a socket wrench as the supplied wrench is serviceable, but not great. I regret that I did not make note of the size of the socket head that fit the nuts, but I highly recommend getting this tool if you have it before assembly. It's much easier. We found that the bike rack wouldn't tighten onto the seat post to stay straight for us. It may be that our daughter's bike seat is at too deep of an angle (it is geared bike, but is styled a bit like a cruiser bike). Once we added the support rods, everything seems to clear and be stable. We added the rods to the rack base after we put the base on the seat post, but if doing it over, we probably would have attached the three rods on each side--not tight, but attached--before attaching the base to the seat. We had to be a bit nimble to get the screws threaded on each rod in tight quarters under the rack. Like any project with lots of connection points, screw everything snug before tightening it all to be sure it is in place. The final result feels sturdy and clears her back tire by a little over an inch and a half. I'm hopeful this may last us through middle school! Wish us luck! (and good luck with assembly) ... show more

  • Bike holder
Style: Cargo
Very cool to have and hold your stuff on bike while you ride. Frustrating screwing the screws with special tool. Wish they made the ranch kit thicker. Kinda hard to use when it’s thin to get all the screw part together on bike.

  • Durable - Reliable Rear Rack
Style: Cargo
With a weight capacity of 310lbs and an affordable price, this product is definitely worth considering. The assembly process is fairly straightforward, but here's a helpful tip: ensure to utilize the rubber pieces and insert them at every clamping point.

  • Sondors Fold X
Style: Cargo
It took a couple extra screws, but this definitely works on a Sondors Fold X for a fraction of the price of the Sondors rack and bag (which was out of stock anyway).

  • solid product with crappy instructions.
Style: Cargo
even with parts being partially assembled, it still was a bit of a puzzle to complete with the crappy instructions. seems good quality in the end.

  • Fantastic rock solid rack and I was able to use my fender too
Style: Cargo
Prior to needing a rack on my fat tire bicycle, I had a Mud Shovel fender that I absolutely loved because it keeps the dirt, puddles, and mud off of me. Then I decided to do some bike camping and needed panniers, which means a rack. Problem: my Mud Shovel mounts to the seat post and no go on a seatpost-mounted rack too. Not knowing how much weight I might ever want to carry, I decided to get the beefiest rack I could find that was wide enough to clear my 4" tires and frame. After hours and hours of reading and comparing, I decided on this rack. I took particular notice of the 3 set screws underneath the main tube of this rack, thinking I might be able to mount my beloved Mud Shovel by them. I snapped the fender off of its mount and punched holes that correspond to the rack’s set screws. It worked and I couldn't be happier. Yes, the rack itself would have caught some of the water, dirt/mud, but it’s not wide enough to catch all that the 4" knobby tires throw up. The fender keeps my panniers and trunk bag pretty clean, which is a great thing. The rack was simple to install by keeping the photo in this listing on the screen for reference. Instructions weren't really needed, which is fortunate because the sheet provided by the manufacturer sucks large. Once installed, this thing is a beast. It's well strong enough to carry another adult person. The rack makes no noise whatsoever, no rattling, creaking or squeaking. I'm extremely sensitive to any noise my bike and its accessories might make because I ride where it's near dead silent most of the time. The rack has been utilized in many different ways, and it always performs well. I’ve tie-wrapped a huge metal mesh basket to the rack and hauled groceries. Using large voile straps, I’ve attached a 15-lb. propane tank to the rack and rode 11 miles home without so much as a shift of the tank. The panniers that I travel with attach to the rack and ride perfectly. I have both the saddlebag-type panniers that are attached together and get thrown over the rack and attached with velcro & also a set of 27l panniers that clip on in 3 points of the rack. Both types ride equally well on the rack. I couldn't be more pleased. UPDATE 6/2/22 — after many months I appreciate this rack so much. It’s perfect at keeping any size or shaped pannier out of your wheel. I have the rack as far back from the saddle as it will go and my feet are never in conflict with a fully packed pannier. I ride on some rough terrain, so I check the bolts regularly, and none of them have loosened at all. I’d definitely buy it again, and the fender has worked out extremely well. Please mark this review as ‘helpful’ if it has been, it helps others see it too. Thank you. ... show more
