  • Worth the money!
To start off with, you need to know that this basket is designed to work with TOPEAKs' brand of bike racks. Like anything else for bikes it's pretty much universal, so you could use it on another bike rack, but it's made for their own specially designed version to work best. If you don't have a rack yet, the TOPEAK Explorer MTX Rack is a good choice to go along with this basket. The folding basket has a ramp that slides into a channel on the bike rack and locks into place with a quick locking system. It's a pretty slick system, and makes for an exact fit, placement, and it's super fast to attach/detach. There are NO worries about the basket or other accessories sliding around with this system. Overall the basket seems to be pretty durable for a lightweight basket, and the fact that it conveniently folds down for travel and storage when not in use is an extremely nice feature not found in other baskets. You need to know that this basket is designed to carry items up to 19.8 pounds, I suspect if you overload it like you would a milk crate that it would not hold up very long. The handle/rolling feature is also very nice, and not found in other baskets. I'll just do a brief overview of PROs and CONs for review: PROs Attaching system/Locking system Folds for travel/storage Lightweight Durable Rolling system CONs May not hold up to heavy usage over a long period of time Rattles during travel (not a big issue for me) Only comes in the grey color Overall - This is an awesome product, the only real complaint for me (and minor at that) is that it doesn't come in Black, which I think would look a lot better on my bike. But it does look good on my bike since it is grey anyway, so I'm probably just nit-picking here. This is a great basket for light shopping or carrying any items around 20 pounds. ... show more

  • Best basket ever
I thought it was a bit too expensive, but it is definitely worth it. First of all, it can be folded so it will not take much space while stored. You can still attach it to the bike rack while folded, but other than aerodynamics, I don't see much point in doing so. When unfolded, it is very sturdy and can hold a gallon of milk, vegetables, juice and yoghurt without any problem. Folding and unfolding take around 20-30 seconds each once you learn how to do it. The best thing is being able to carry it with a handle and wheels. It makes shopping so convenient in a way I did not expect. Instead of moving groceries from a cart to this basket, I can shop with it directly and then just attach it to the bike rack before returning home. The handle length is just ok for me but it might be a bit short for taller people (I'm 5'9"). Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely get it again if I had the choice. ... show more

  • An Excelent Basic with Minor Issues
This basket is one of the most expensive single accessories I've bought for my bike, and it took some hemming and hawing with my budget to justify it. But since I've gotten its been rare I've ridden without it. The first thing is that the design and construction are generally top notch. The plastic its made of is durable, and the way it slides on and locks into my Topeak Explorer Rack is fantastic. Only issue I've had there is that the mount to the rack for my rear light is a little tall, but that is more a personal setup issue and I can't fault the basket for that. The only other minor thing, and this is likely more to my bike design and seat height, I do have to move the basket back to open or close it as the attached trolley handle will catch the seat. Once I fix/shorten that light mount this shouldn't be a problem. The basket isn't too much extra weight, even with the extendable arm and wheels, and it hasn't shown any signs of warping. When its opened I don't feel it impedes by sitting, and only a little more height is needed to swing my leg over the bike. In general opening it from its closed position is fairly easy, and if you didn't have the aforementioned tail light bracket issue you'll do it quickly. But it is also where I have some minor quibbles. The internal sliding locks are easy to use. Then there are the top supports. These rest within the side panel of the basket when not in use, then you pull them off to lock into the top of the basket sides to hold their shape. They do the latter fine, but I find securing them in place to the inside walls of the basket inconsistent and harder than it should be. Also, to help keep it straight, are 2 latches at the front (by the seat post) and I find these, or at least one, frequently doesn't stay locked in. This hasn't caused structural failure, but it does cause the basket to shift left and right more and is a little disheartening at the price of this. As so last minor quibbles I will also say that I don't like that there doesn't appear to be a lock for the trolley arm, though it doesn't appear to be needed. There also is some small latch or hook on the back of it that doesn't seem to be for stability, and more so has seemed to be a place for bags or body parts to get caught (and can hurt) Maybe its for another connection point for a bungie/bungie net (something also not included that I feel could've been for the price) but it seems unnecessary and annoying. But overall those really are minor complaints only worth 1 star off to me. This has really been an invaluable piece of my bike kit and incredibly durable holding tons of weight. Whether it be packs of beer on a beer run, my bag full of 2 computers and other equipment when commuting to work, or just a lighter pack of toilet paper, its handled it. On dozens of miles of road, and bumpy trails, and after months of use. I haven't felt off balance like a pannier can, even with it getting out of shape. And honestly, with it folded down I feel no need to take it off due to the limited weight, and not even feeling it when seated and closed. If you have a Topeak rack that this works with, it is the most stable and worthwhile peripheral I think you can get for it, and a necessity for the bike commuter. ... show more
