    • Sturdy overall but the brackets don't fit any crossbar unless it is flat on the bottom.

Upon opening the package, I found the bag to be sturdier and thicker than I originally thought which was a very nice surprise. The cage was easy to put together. The brackets seem designed only for cross bars that are flat on the bottom which mine aren't. This means the brackets naturally bend upon tightening. That doesn't seem right to me. The brackets also have lug nuts that stick upwards into the bag that came with the cage as a full kit. Even though they have rounded corners, they could rub against the bag regardless of the netting being over all of it. I will be using it on my trip in a couple of days and will see how it fares while in use. It worked well on my trip. I put foam on the nodules that stuck up into the bag to minimize the rubbing and that worked well. While driving, there was a bit of wind noise but it wasn’t very loud and I felt it was secure during my entire trip. I checked around the cage every time I got gas and, for the most part, the snaps stayed secure. I only had to re-secure a couple the entire time. It was pretty easy to take off when I got to the campsite and then put back together when packing to go home. I really enjoyed knowing the water proof bag was keeping all my stuff dry since it rained almost the entire drive there, everyday we were camping and only stopped for the last few hours before we left. The bag was sturdy, water proof and easy to get in to. The cage, except for the only flat attachments, was secure and solid and quieter than I expected. This is the first cargo hitch carrier we've bought but the second cargo bag. This whole product was a champion yesterday during our 10 hour drive to the beach. I love that the carrier itself is not super close to your vehicle. That way you can still get into your trunk. The setup and installation was super easy. They even give you a lock so nobody can steal your carrier. NICE! But yall, the best part was this bag. Not only did it fit all the luggage for 5 people with extras (I'm a female and yes I'm extra) but it seriously rained the entire 10hr drive and NOTHING was wet. And I don't mean sprinkles. It was that kind of rain where you can't even see anything in front if you except brake lights. After that annoying drive it was nice to get to our destination with no issues. We weren't so lucky a couple years ago with a roof top cargo bag. So if you're on the fence about what to buy. Stop scrolling and get this one! Update: This company addressed our concern and took care of the issue with the carrier bag. They could not have been more responsive and concerned. I was very impressed with their process. The roof rack is easy to install and is very sturdy. In the first use, carrying only three suitcases and a few soft shopping bags, the ‘heavy duty’ waterproof carrier did not hold up. It now has small tears and spots where it pulled apart. We felt like we were very careful with both the carrier and rack, hoping we could use them on many trips, now I have to use duct tape to hold it together. Used the roof rack and the bag to travel from the Midwest to the east coast and back. The rack and travel bag were trouble free, and kept our items dry. The installation process was a little difficult, as our rack did have some minor bends, but nothing the rubber mallet didn't make right. It took a good 2 hours my first trip to figure out the best way to pack and secure the bag, but that isn't a problem specific to this bag. The provided straps are 2 different sizes, something that wasn't obvious, but was listed in the instructions. Also, helpful in the instructions was mentioning that the non-zipper side should face forward. I could see that causing some of the leakage issues listed in other reviews. The only "con" I have is the clamps. They are meant for more rectangular shaped bars, and mine are "aero" or teardrop shaped. I had to crank down one side of the clamp far enough that the threads of the clamp created a concerning puncture point for the bag. I wrapped it in a rag with zip ties to pad the surface for the travel bag. ... show more

The product itself is great, unfortunately mine didn't come with the stabilizer or the lock. Contacted them, and they offered to ship them or a partial refund so I can purchase them locally. Great response and very satisfied. This hitch cargo was easy to install, I added thin rubber foam to where the 2 halves meet. To reduce any noise and more importantly, damage to the metal and potential rust spot. ... show more

I purchased this and used it on my first road trip with it!! Overall, very impressive!! Two noteworthy things though: the stabilizing bracket and lock shown in the picture are NOT included; which is very misleading. In my opinion the stabilizing bracket is a must have!! Mine swayed/rocked too much without it. Fortunately, I figured this out and purchased one before my trip! The lock is a must have for me as well, as I didn't feel the need to remove the basket while away on vacation, even when not being used. I simply folded it and left it attached.
