  • Nice mount
Light weight and durable composite design, no metal to metal like an aluminum mount. Attaches easily and is snug so it is very stable. Comes with simple to follow instructions, took about 3 minutes to mount it. It also is not bad cosmetically, it looks like part of the gun. I was worried that it wouldn't match the gloss bluing of the receiver but it does very well. I'd recommend it. I was sceptical after reading some of the reviews but I had no problems. The cut-outs for the nuts fit perfect with no extra room to allow for the nuts to turn once in their recess. From what I could tell installing mine, you would have to really be cranking to strip these nuts. I had zero problems, they went right in and snugged right up. ... show more

  • perfect fit
I received the saddle mount picatinny rail for Remington 870 Express today. It took me less than 10 minutes to install. A suggestion for easy install... put in the front pin first without the retaining nut, then as you insert the rear pin which is larger in diameter, grasp the trigger guard in one hand and slowly press it up into position while inserting the second pin. I did this and it went right into place. Then attach the nuts on each pin, then tighten adequately but do not over tighten. Then insert the pin in the top of the rail being careful not to over tighten. It looks great, is really stable for my red dot scope. I am very pleased! ... show more

  • Can’t mess this install up
Bought the mount for a Remington 870 . Installation was a breeze. Instructions included are dead on correct.

  • Would have given it 5 stars, if it came with directions....
This is my first scope, and I mounted it on a 20 gauge Remington 870 Shotgun. Very fast install. Mount went on in under 5 minutes - trickiest part was figuring out how to push the original pins out of the receiver. (Ice pick worked quite well, with a good rap on it's handle from a tack hammer to get them started.) Everything else I needed, including the allen wrenches, was included in the package. Even though the mount LOOKS like a snug fit on the 20 guage without them, I was assured by someone with experience installing this mount on this model gun that you MUST use all 4 washers, to assure a proper fit. It's kinda tricky getting them properly positioned over the pin holes, between the mount and the receiver, but the allen wrenches made it easier, once I understood what I needed to do. The ice pick woud have worked too. Be careful to change the back rod first, and attach the nut loosely, then remove and replace the front one. Otherwise, the trigger mechanism could fall out of the receiver, and you will have to fiddle with it, to get everything back together correctly. It's easy, really, if you just do them one at a time, back one first. Once they are both changed, cinch them down until snug. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts - if you do, you will experience stiffness, or outright jamming of the pump action and / or trigger. That's not a failing of the mount - that's just because of how the gun is designed to come apart for service. Check them after sighting in the gun, to make sure they are not loose, and again after a day afield. The mount is NOT made of metal - rather, it is made of some very light weight "composite" material. (Is that a catch-phrase for "plastic"?) There were no instructions, and so I am still not sure what the set screw on the top of the mount is supposed to do, or how tight it is supposed to be, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't serve any mission-critical purpose. I suppose I'll ask my fellow hunters, if I have trouble getting / keeping the scope sighted. (Since they sell this same mount for other guns, it may be that it serves a function on one of those. Again, directions would have been nice...) The mount seems to have some structural flexibility, which might actually be a good thing - better to have it spring back to position, than to be bent, if the gun is dropped. The scope rings cinched down tight as you could please - I am confident that there will be no issues with everything staying attached correctly, as there is no slop or looseness to be discerned. I believe this part is manufactured in an "injection moulding" process. If that's true, then I give Weaver credit for careful cleaning and removal of "flash" - they were no dangling chads, or sharp edges anywhere on it. I'm taking it to the range tomorrow to sight in my scope - if I learn anything more, I will update this reveiw. EDIT: (10 months since I made this reveiw.) I made my first kill (with the scope mounted) - at 40 yards, it was almost like reaching out and touching the deer. I'll be buying a couple more of these for my other gun, and my daughter's gun, when we get ready to mount scopes - great product, and silly easy to install. It took me quite a few shots to get the gun sighted - but it was my first time sighting in a scope. I am convinced it was my lack of experience, and not any problem with equipment that caused the difficulty. Since that time, I have sighted in a scope on a crossbow, and that went much quicker. I believe it was because I had some experience behind me, that allowed me to get on point faster. ... show more

  • Good buy!
Easy to mount on my 870 Express Magnum 12 ga. As long as you use a little touch everything fits together nicely. One piece of advice though: replace the trigger assembly pins one at a time. I made the mistake of pulling both out before I replaced one so I had to dedicate on hand to holding the trigger assembly in place until I had the replacement pins inserted. But, once the mount was fully secured, my red/green dot sight went on and looks and works fantastic! ... show more

  • It’s garbage
It snapped down the center as soon as I put one bolt in on my 1187 don’t buy this over priced piece of plastic that could’ve shattered in my face if I shot the weapon system with this rail on

  • Don't believe those who say side mounts don't work
Easy to install and rock solid. I have 45 year old 870. 10 shots at the range I'm hitting bullseye at 50 yards.

  • Very Pragmatic Mount--But Beware! Revised!!!!
I have revised this review since I came across a BETTER mount from UTG that has more features but most of all the fact that the UTG mount has a tunnel that can be used to sight with regular IRON bead! The best of both worlds! UTG MN87 Tactical mount! It certainly is very difficult to add any further comments to reviewer" Douglas" excellent review especially for those who are not inclined to doing some minor gunsmith repairs--that expressed I believe every weapon owner should know how to disassemble and properly repair their weapons------- A+ brother Douglas---pass the ammo! B4B's comment should be well NOTED however since --he offers some solid advice but Douglas' quick comment & comeback with I agree ----space age plastic today is more durable, stronger than in the sixties----I like the mount since it reduces the overall weight of weapon!! The rather unique item with this mount is the fact with the bolts and nuts one doesn't have to be concerned with losing one or more pins when a field----just make sure you use some "medium" lock tight on the nuts. Overall it's a well designed mount other than the fact you CANNOT--CO-WITNESS in case of losing battery power or THE PICATINNY CONFIGURATION IS NOT A TRUE PICATINNY SPECS---therefore some optics specified designed for a true picatinny rail system will not fit without some minor refiling (enlarging the groves)!!!!!!! Aim Tech makes a more costly mount out of aluminum that enables one to Co-Witness IF ONE IS INTERESTED IN BACKUPS! Every hunter or "prepper" should be interested in a back up sighting system on their weapons--especially while hunting dangerous game such as wild hogs!!!! ... show more
