  • It works great! No complaints at all!
Style: 34 Pints 2000 Sq. Ft
We bought a high rated, recommended smaller unit which was noisy and ran a long time with no sufficient result -- we returned it. This unit is easy to operate, easy to move, and a good size ( fits under the counter). The noise level is fine. It is efficient. It works fast to bring the humidity down. It's easy to drain the water tank -- we use it in two rooms (bathroom and walk-in closet). ... show more

  • A GREAT DEHUMIDIFIER
Style: 80 Pints 5000 Sq. Ft
Style 80 pts. 5000 sq ft I purchased this Waykar dehumidifier for my basement to replace an old one that stopped working. This unit is very well made and easy to operate. Removed moisture quickly in my basement. The unit is compact and very quiet when running. It is easy to move around with the built in handle and wheels. Overall I really like this dehumidifier. The price was good and the customer service is excellent. I would definitely buy again. 5 stars ... show more

  • 5 stars overall, but minus 1/2 star for occasional pump noise
Style: 150 Pints with Pump 7000 Sq. Ft
TLDR; 5 star for features and general operation. minus half star for pump noise level. ================ This review is in regard to the version of the product with a pump. When dehumidifiers remove water from the air, you need to empty out the water and there are generally three ways to do this. 1. Basin: The water is collected in a basin in the dehumidifier and you must remove and dump out the basin regularly. 2. Drain: If your dehumidifier is in a location with a floor drain it can empty directly into the drain. The drain operates through gravity -- it must be below your dehumidifier. 3. Pump: You can drain it 'uphill' into a sink that is above the level of the dehumidifier if your system has a pump that can send the water above the dehumidifier. This Amazon product listing has several different models. Only one of the models "150 pints with pump 7000 sq ft" has a pump. This review pertains to the pump model. ============================= I have previously used a GE Humidifier with a pump ( https://www.amazon.com/GE-Portable-Dehumidifier-Basement-Bathroom/dp/B0C6L8FDRC/?th=1 ) and my comments are relative to that system. In general I found the Waykar unit to be superior to the GE unit; and I would rate Waykar at 4.5 stars. DEHUMIDIFYING CAPACITY The Waykar is among the highest capacity I have seen. Waykar rates its removal rate as up to 70 pints per day compared to 50 pints for the GE. I can't measure the difference, but I suspect it is real. These systems are supposed to turn on and off, similar to the way your A/C system is governed by its thermostat. However, the GE would run continuously. This is a sign to me that the GE didn't have the power to 'catch up' to its set humidity. The Waykar unit on the other hand works just like your air conditioner and it turns on for a while then rests for a while. Why does this matter? The fan noise on the GE never stops. The fan on both units is quiet. Again think of white noise like your A/C system. However, it is still nice to have quiet periods with no fan running. RESERVOIR EMPTIES WITH PUMP When using the Waykar the pump empties the water before it goes into the reservoir/basin. In contrast, the GE fills the basin and pumps when the basin is full. This means that the GE always has a tub full of standing water, which seems to me like a mold risk. I appreciate Waykar's aproach which always leaves a dry basin if you use the pump. OSCILLATING FAN Waykar has a flap above the fan outlet. It has an option to pivot this flap automatically. This helps spread the treated air throughout the room. HUMIDITY LEVEL INDICATOR The Waykar has a humidity level display (eg, 41 for 41% humidity) on the front and top. Waykar's display is more responsive than the display on the GE. You can see the Waykar adjusting in real time. This give you an indication that the unit is actually working. NOISY PUMP The one area where the Waykar falls short is its pump noise. When the pump is working it makes an irritating brrrrrp sound. The GE pump was silent and didn't have this problem. This is not overwhelming since the pump does not run all of the time. First, remember that the system 'rests' frequently with no noise. Second, under normal operation, the fan is quiet and the white noise of the system is minimal. However, periodically when it collects enough water the pump will turn on for 5 seconds to 30 seconds. During this time you hear the irritating pump noise. The pump may not be an issue if you use the system in a basement, utility area, or run it with the pump off. We use it in the living area and find it more annoying. SUMMARY I rate the unit 5 stars for its overall capabilities and operation. However, I subtract 1/2 star for the annoying pump noise. If you purchase one of the models without a pump, I suspect you will be satisfied. CUSTOMER SERVICE - 5 stars When I first found the problem, I reported it to the manufacturer's customer service. They were prompt and polite, but I didn't find their response useful. As a result, I posted my experience here with a poor rating. In response to my rating, the customer service reached out and quickly addressed my issue and they exchanged my unit. I 'think' the pump noise is a little better on the replacement unit, but it is still an issue. However, I have decided to keep it because of the other features -- I will just make sure I turn it off when I have company visiting me. For their attentive resolution I rate service at 5 stars. p.s. Why did I give 5 stars on service when I needed to escalate? There were exceptional circumstances. Normally, after the initial response. I would just have requested an exchange. However, the product was out of stock at Amazon and they only offered returns. Since I purchased on-sale a return and re-purchase would have cost me $75 extra. When the issue was escalated Waykar acted quickly to resolve the problem. They shipped me a replacement directly from their own stock and processed a return at no cost to me. I feel the customer service worked correctly and the extra step/escalation was only needed because of the stock out. ... show more

  • Simple to use and set up.
Style: 80 Pints 5000 Sq. Ft
I ordered this dehumidifier because our Whirlpool was slowly dying. It wasn't sucking enough moisture out of the air. But it was very clean (filter & coils). I think the compressor did not have enough refrigerant. Not sure and not sure where to get it recharged. That may have been the price of a new dehumidifier anyhow. But it did work very well, for 4 short years. But I chose to buy a different brand this time because Whirlpools have become rather expensive. Anyway, I shopped on Amazon and decided on the Waykar product because most owners were happy with their units and the customer service for Waykar had high marks. Many other brands did not. The unit we bought is an 80-pint model which means, if I understand this correctly, it will remove 80 pints of moisture from the air in a cycle. I empty the bucket twice a day. It is sucking out a lot of water. We live in NC, so there's plenty of humid air. We use this unit in our fully finished 2400 Sq. ft. basement. This unit claims to be able to service 5000 sq. Ft. Well, I don't know if it will do all that. I have it in a room of about 1000 sq. ft. where we had a mildew problem 4 years ago. But, in this room this unit sucks out a lot of water. I have two free-standing hygrometers and they have read as low as 41% humidity. That is very good. So, the Waykar 80 Pinter is doing its job. Some experts say a 50% humidity level is good in a home. Works for me. So does 41%. I use the directional fan thingy (it moves up and down, but it can be turned off) and that seems to make a good difference in how much moisture is removed too. I am happy with the performance of this unit. Out of the box, it's not real heavy (excellent packaging by the way). It rolls easily on its wheels. As for noise level, it's not as loud as the Whirlpool was. But I can let this run at night, and it does not keep me awake. In fact, it may serve as a nice "white noise" device for some. There are two fan speeds. I use low only. I can't use the automatic drain feature because there is no floor drain in the room (it's a gravity auto-drain feature). It did come with a nice drain connector for the 3.3 feet of clear hose. The filter is easy to get to and remove for cleaning. Do that. The controls are simple and easy to use. The manual explains them all. It is a good manual. I have one complaint about this unit. The water tank. I just wish it were a bit bigger. This one is a little less than 1.5 gallons but a 2 gallon or more tank would be great. Also, it's a little sloppy to pour the water out. I tried a couple of times to pour it into the toilet but that made a mess so now I pour it into the nearby shower and problem solved (but I do have to wipe it off). Also, the tank has a cover on top and that seems to restrict the water coming out so perhaps an open top tank might be a better design? The only other question I have about this dehumidifier is its reliability and longevity. I'll have to bide my time for this. But, if I get five or ten years out of it, I'll be happy. So, should you buy this one? I recommend this brand and model, and so far I am not dissatisfied. Oh, and I bought it on Prime day, so I got a nice price. Ki ... show more
