Great little winch except for the pain to mount it. Warm made the mount holes pretty difficult to reach. Good luck trying to mount it to the floor using concrete anchors; I ended up having a custom aluminum mount welded together. This unit is for indoor use only. It is not water proof. To be used outside, the unit must be in a sealed environment. According to Warn Customer Service, a winch cover would be ineffective. Be prepared to fabricate something to mount this on, because there’s not much “frame” around this winch. This replaced an older Warn AC winch which seemed much beefier.

I bought this winch to bring my 16 ft boat up a 40 degree boat ramp over 40 ft long. This winch handles it easily. I had a tried other portable winches with a larger rating and they would not make the full distance before duty cycle maxed out. Nice product, worth the extra money
