  • Waring v. Vitamix v. Blendtec
Size: 64 Ounce Copolyester Container
I did a TON of research on Vitamix, Blendtec, and Waring blenders. We wanted a high power blender to make smoothies, nut butters, and mixed drinks. This led me to the Waring and I have been extremely happy so far. Here are my thoughts: Waring - Powerful blender with simple(unlikely to fail) paddle controls. No need to use a tamping stick, this blender annihilates everything you put into it. The wide bottomed container makes it easy for all food to reach the blades, we blended hummus(thick) and it flowed like water up the sides and down the middle to the blades in a nice vortex action. Vitamix - Powerful blender with various control options, but you must use tamping stick for everything because the narrow bottomed jar does not allow contents to naturally fall down to the blade. Also, the Vitamix is overpriced due to it's overly-marketed name. Blendtec - Powerful blender with equivalent performance to the Waring, but the higher likelihood of failure on the electronic controls is a drawback. Price is higher than the waring. Overall thoughts: Waring is a commercial brand name that has survived in the restaurant industry since the 1950's. Because they are not overly-marketed, the price is kept low and they have developed a durable and quality product at a very good price point. Beware that any of these blenders is large(waring and vitamix are equal height). The 64 oz containers are tall and may not fit under your cabinets when on the base. Ours just barely slides back under the cabinet with the lid off (we put it behind the container when not in use). This is the best video out there that does an equal comparison of Vitamix, Waring, Blendtec, and JTC blenders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ej048qZNxpk SPOILER ALERT: WARING WINS!! ... show more

  • Needs Cleaning
Size: 64 Ounce Copolyester Container
Our first Waring blender, the 3 hp model, began to leak after a few years of use. There's a gasket at the bottom of the jar, or clear plastic container, that apparently can erode then leak. The cost of replacing it and/or getting it fixed wasn't far away from the cost of a new blender -- special tools are needed to take it apart and what would otherwise be a simple job (replacing a gasket) proves impossible without being able to take it apart. So, reluctantly, we purchased this blender. It's amazing to see it work. We've owned a Vitamix and seen other blenders in action -- this is far and away the best of the best. Having dealt with the leak, we're cleaning this one in accordance with the instructions, something we did not do with our older model. After each use, they say to use hot water, fill to a line on the jar, use a small amount of non-sudsing soap, then run for 2 minutes on high. They also say to not use the clear plastic top -- just the black rubber part -- to prevent expansion problems. This results in soap and water exploding all over the area. What a mess! You can solve this problem simply by placing a damp washcloth over the rubber cap. This allows air to escape, but prevents soapy water from leaping out. Do the same for the rinsing. I'm hopeful that cleaning by the directions will allow us to use the blender much longer than we were able to use our previous version. ... show more

  • Noise is the price of so much power
Size: 64 Ounce Copolyester Container
I read all the reviews I could find on this and purchased one not ever wanting to buy another poor quality weak blender. Now more educated on it after having used it I thought I'd add a little info that would have helped me in the decision process. First, this has a soft-start mode which is common on industrial machinery and will greatly prolong the life of the motor. It isnt something you select, it is just how it starts. A soft-start means it takes a brief second to reach full speed. If it didnt there's enough torque on this to spin it right off the counter. Second, it is designed for food products, but after using it some Ive concluded its strong enough it would probably liquify a cord of wood. Lastly, for comparison, I spend most days inside a shop of industrial cabinet-making machinery. This blender has as much horsepower as half of the equipment in there so the noise this makes is normal for a 3-1/2 hp motor, but its at least as loud as my largest router or shaper. Its a beast. Buy it only if you need this much power and recognize that power comes with a commensurate amount of noise. In a restaurant setting I wouldnt want this near people trying to enjoy a nice meal. But if power is what you need, it'll damn sure handle it. ... show more

  • Bad QC
Size: 64 Ounce Copolyester Container
This was the second blender purchased, the first one was sent with the power cord not attached to the housing. This one came with the paddle switches in the bottom it the bag. At this price one would demand quality. Very disappointing, now looking at different brands. If you decide to purchase from this manufacturer be forewarned, I’ve bought two, both returned! The quality control is lacking and speaks volumes for what is happening with “made in America”. Be warned! ... show more

  • Top Notch Commercial Blender
Size: 64 Ounce Copolyester Container
Having owned countless blenders for home smoothie making, I decided to upgrade from my Ninja Blender to the Waring MX1000XTX. I read reviews on Amazon for days and concluded that the Waring was the one for me. Yeah, I know the Vitamix is popular, and Blendtec is cool as they market more, but Waring's 3.5 HP and warranty is what interested me. Also, with words like "Raptor" and "Xtreme" in the naming of the product you can't go wrong. In a couple days she arrived - on a Sunday. I threw all my normal ingredients in: raw cacao, maca, chia, dates, golden flax seed, bananas, frozen pineapple, coconut milk etc. I was amazed that in about 5 seconds it was the smoothest darn smoothie I've ever made! The Ninja, Oyster, Kitchen Aid, etc. take 30 seconds or more and you're still left with a few chunks (which don't really bother me). But, the quality, construction and finished product on this thing are beyond belief. The best. I'm now raving about the Waring in the streets. I want a T shirt that says: "I own a Waring and I can smoothie better than you." If someone told me they owned a better blender, I would challenge them to a smoothie-off and win. I could go on, but no need. The MX1000XTX is a commercial grade blender for the home and is simply amazing. ... show more
