It’s too short to work with 16 inch logs. Maybe 8-10, but not 16. It’s not very sharp and the hammer is kinda cheap. Great concept over the sheet metal bolted together version, but very poor execution in design.

This thing looked great but it was weak, dull, not very robust, and it broke the third time I was using it. Going back to using the reliable hatchet, can’t go wrong and it doesn’t break from being used!

Works great, but remember you're splitting wood, so I'm extra careful. I've only tried this with store-bought firewood for my fire pit. Not sure how this would work with harder woods. But I think it would do well. I like to use gloves to get a little bit more of a grip and obviously for the safety from splinters etc. Glad I got this one with the hammer, makes it a lot easier. ... show more

I needed a tool to break down pieces of wood into smaller pieces for my little table fire pit. This was perfect. I was surprised how gravy duty it was. It had a lot of weight to it. It is very strong. Very easy to use. Came with screws to mount it. Or keep it portable. Safe. Not too sharp, sharp enough. Very sturdy design and construction. Perfect for camping or at home. The splitter came with mounting hardware and a sledgehammer. Since the bolt pattern is so close together, it easily mounted to a tree. It works great and has a sharp blade. Effectively chops cord wood into kindling. Say the reviews may be very skeptical about this but I decided to try it. It definitely has to be mounted to something large and sturdy. I think we're a lot of people are going wrong as they're trying to use this for firewood and not just kenneling to start a fire. Well it's pretty heavy and thick steel I think it's only supposed to be used for kenneling as it's not large enough to do large logs or standard sized timber. ... show more
