I used this to cover a muddy area under my deck, around 400 square feet. Most of the area too low to be useable, but still needed access. Time will tell how it will suppress weed growth, but it was easy for me to install ( age 67 and female). I used the round 6 inch pins by Sandbaggy to secure. The only thing I didnt like is that everything sticks to it. This is the design - a combination of the woven and non woven materials. The non woven feature is felt like. The area where installed is shady, so not too much sun gets to it. There were some places where the fabric had wrinkled when rolled up, so this made it challenging to get it to lie flat during installation, but I think the wrinkles will eventually flatten out. ... show more

It definitely allows water and air to get through. I not mulched it yet but so far rain has not pudled. The weeds are growing up under it and they are lifting the fabric. Time will tell if weeds go through it. I am hoping to get it mulched tomorrow. Maybe that will kill the weeds growing under it.

We bought this in the spring of 2022 to lay out and replant our herb garden. We had had lots of self sowing of oregano, fennel, and other herbs, so we wanted something that would not only keep weeds from germinating underneath the barrier, but would keep seeds from sprouting on the surface and sending roots through the barrier. This product failed on both counts. We got a flocked barrier because we've had good luck with that over the last 35 years. The flocking on the back of this product balled up and flaked off in the first summer. I had cut extra length for overlapping and placing rocks along the border, but after less than a full season, it shrunk so much that there are big gaps where the seams are. Now, after less than 18 months in place, the weed barrier has degraded to the point that it has huge holes in it and all the mulch is sifting through. Good and thick. Stops weeds if installed property. LAY it on the ground, do NOT stretch it. If it is stretched it will pull away from the edges and you will be pulling more weeds than you did before. I had it installed by a "Professional" who left many gaps. Now I am having Middle School boys cut small strips and glue them in place, and holding them down with pins and rocks. Last year I designed a Japanese garden and put what was purported to be "the best weed guard" down before laying the rock. But, not only did grass, weeds and sprigs of privet still pop through, the "best weed guard" frayed terribly and had to be replaced around the edges. This summer I made another Japanese garden and used this product under the rock; NOTHING has penetrated it. This weed guard is the best I've ever used. Despite its thickness it's easy to cut and lay out, stays in place once it's laid and it's very durable. I used the pins that were included and they went through the fabric with very little difficulty. I'm making a rock-bordered walkway with a mulch base in the spring, and this will be the weed guard I'll use. NOTE: I would NOT recommend it for use in a flower or vegetable garden unless it's only used between the rows and not around the base of the plants. ... show more
