I was able to quickly use a pole snake to get the camera cable from the back to the front to connect to the Camera. Then I ran the power wires for the hard wire kit down the front windshield pillar to the fuse box. I used the quick taps that I purchased and got battery & ACC power for the camera. I formatted the 256 GB SD card and installed it. It is a little difficult to install the SD card as I had to use a small screwdriver to fully get it to click into the Camera. The Camera video is good unless the sun is very bright and low in the sky. The app works great but you have to stop recording to access the videos. You can watch live video on your device which can be distracting. I have a mobile hot spot in my car so if I connect to the camera I can not access the internet on my phone. I have to disconnect from the camera to get internet back on my phone. Not a big deal but its an annoyance. Overall great product purchase. ... show more

The Viofo A139 Pro is unmatched in video quality. I tried a cheaper camera and returned it. A lot of people complain about the lack of functionality on the Viofo app but I bought it for the quality of the camera, not the app. Installed behind the right side of the rearview mirror, the camera is easily hidden from the driver's view (see pics). If you want to use the parking mode on the camera, you will need to purchase the hard wire install kit. I recommend it. The installation is very straight forward. I have the two-channel camera running front and rear. For a rideshare driver, you can mount the rear camera on the windshield and use it as an internal camera. If you purchase the three-channel and run all three channels together, you lose the 4k resolution. Overall, I am EXTREMELY happy with this purchase. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a dashcam. There are cheaper options available but they don't come close to matching the quality of the Viofo A139 Pro. It's worth the money. ... show more

At times, it will disconnect and/or disable the Wi-Fi signal but it doesn't interfere with traffic recording. I disabled the parking mode as I can't risk a dead battery. Video image is OK but I'm not comparing it to any other dashcam. This is my first one and I chose it because the Sony Starvis chip is highly rated and not widely available. ... show more

I had an old dashcam (was $99 on Amazon, back in 2019), but realized that it was not working over few months. I felt that I need a better one - at least more reliable, and got this one. Installation was not difficult. It's just same as other dashcams - I used default cables. One downside is that this one does not have a built-in LCD, so you need a phone with an app on it to control the dashcam. But again, it's better than struggling with poorly designed UI/buttons on the dashcam. App looks good, convenient and works fine. If you are familiar with IoT devices over WiFi, this thing is a piece of cake. Haven't had a chance to investigate the recorded video under different environment, but I hope I do not need to do such thing. ... show more

    • Disaster. Parking mode is BAD! Stopped working in a week!
1. First thing you need to know if you plan to use it in a parking mode - it eats the life out of your battery like nothing else I've ever seen. Even if used with regular USB that stays on after ignition is off - beware it can drain your battery - will need to unplug every time. It explains overheating issues the others reported. 2.Need to buy a specific SD-card - won't work out of the box (because they don't give you any). And not just ANY SD card - there are only few specific brands it will work with (check their website). You also need to buy hardwiring harness (18$+70$ for the specific SD) - really should be provided with the kit. 3. I additionally bought the video saving button for the camera (saves the video footage on demand). In case of an accident - the only footage recorded will be everything after the accident. It really feels like a bug, course it makes no sense. Normally 10-15 sec before should be also saved. 4. MY ISSUE! Video quality is great, but my camera stopped working a few days after I hardwired it - no more GPS, WiFi does not connect to the phone, recording is on/off all the time. Tried different memory cards, disconnected hard-wiring harness, connected to regular USB, tried re-set button, checked the voltage on USB and hard-wired harness - everything is fine, but still no recording. It's particularly frustrating cause I did waste my weekend on hard-wring and proper installation and now I need to take it all apart. 5. The customer service was quick to respond and commented on every issue, but I made up my mind to return it. It feels cheap to the touch, the 3M Tape was dried out (but they provide a spare one in the kit), the camera rotates freely 360 degrees (moderate offroading in my Jeep affects the lens position/orientation). ... show more

Bought the dashcam for my wife's car as she drives over 60 miles per day (one-way) to and from her work. There's lots of driving skill "opportunities" on the interstate highways so having an "eye-witness" can be a real benefit if you're unlucky enough to need one. The front camera produces one of the best images on the market today and the rear camera is adequate for most situations. Both cameras were easy to install. I especially appreciate the smaller diameter cable for the rear camera - it was much easier than other, thicker cables, when running along the headliner and through the conduit at the rear of my wife's Mazda CX5. There are a lot of great videos online (Vortex Radar and Blackboxmycar) that give deep dives into the specs and pros/cons versus other units. For me the picture quality was the deciding factor. If I had wanted a stronger parking mode or cloud features I may have chosen the Thinkware 3000 or other unit (Parking mode is OK with the VIOFO but is not as strong as the Thinkware. The VIOFO does not offer cloud capabilities at this time.) Great unit for the price and meets my needs. ... show more
