  • Reliable Dashcam. Nice little screen. 3 HD cameras, and parking mode.
The media could not be loaded. Quite happy with this dash cam so far. Installed in a 2003 Toyota Celica. I paired the N4 3 Channel dashcam with Vantrue’s hardwire kit and it successfully runs on parking mode off of the car’s battery without draining it when switched to12v draw. Parking mode records while im parked. When I open my car door the camera’s screen turns on for a moment, and then it continues recording. Installation was fairly simple in my car. The hardest part was shoving the wire into the trim to hide it all if you want it to look nice, and I added zipties at the camera to tighten visible wire up. It comes with a plastic trim tool which helped. With the hatchback, I had to leave extra slack on the rear camera wire to open the back without it getting tugged on. I also opted to use 3M dual lock instead of just the suction cup for the dashcam, I have not had good luck with windshield suction cups in the past because of drastic temperature changes throughout the seasons. I like the addition of the rear camera, it has a good view of cars behind me, and is semi useful for backing up, but wouldn’t rely on it for that. The inside camera is wide angle enough to capture both driver and passenger seats with some of the side windows also visible. Front camera records in 1440p at default. I’ve uploaded a small clip for sample. At first use, the camera menu was not in English. I had to use my phone camera on google translate to navigate and change the language. After that, all of the menu settings are pretty self explanatory. One thing I wish the camera had was wifi connectivity for viewing. Vantrue does have other dashcams with wifi that cost more. To view recordings I was able to plug a PC laptop into the usb c on the side of the camera where the rear camera connects, and select usb mode on the dashcam. To get it to exit usb mode I had to turn off/on the dashcam. I was not able to get it to connect to my ipad or iphone via usb. Maybe there is a firmware update, which I haven’t done yet. Can also just pop out the micro sd card and put it in an adapter to view. Other than that it records well in HD 24/7 off my car battery, and looks clean after shoving all the wires under the trim. Its been reliable and serves is purpose as a dashcam. As long as you don't mind not having the wifi feature, it’s been a great so far! ... show more

  • Reliable Dash Cam with Great Video Quality and Outstanding Customer Support
I’ve been using my N4 dash cam for the past three years, and I originally purchased it because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. The video quality of all three cameras has always been clear for me, especially since I use the highest quality settings. As someone who drives a lot, this dash cam has given me a sense of security, knowing I have video evidence if I’m ever in an accident where I’m not at fault. That peace of mind paid off when I was rear-ended this past summer (screencap attached from the rear cam). Like others have mentioned, the suction cup isn’t perfect, but I got around that by attaching the front cam to my rearview mirror with velcro straps. The rear cam’s 3M adhesive backing worked perfectly without any issues. While the dash cam doesn’t have an internal power supply, I kept it running while parked by connecting it to a rechargeable power bank. After almost daily use for three years, the camera recently started malfunctioning. However, Vantrue’s customer support has been amazing. Shout out to Liki from support, who patiently walked me through troubleshooting and even helped arrange a replacement despite my expired warranty. While newer models may have addressed the minor issues I’ve experienced, I would still recommend this camera or another from Vantrue—especially if you spend a lot of time on the road. It’s been a reliable and worthwhile investment for me! ... show more

  • one of your best options for a complete dashcam
The media could not be loaded. As soon as I opened the package, I was impressed with the quality of the build. It's very well thought out. In case you're wondering like I was, 3-channel means it has 3 cameras. The big camera faces the front with the highest resolution of 4K or 2160p. On that same unit, there's a small one right next to the LCD for recording the inside of the car. This big unit can be powered in two ways. First, use the included USBC to a 12V car adapter. Second, if you don't want to use up your 12V port, you'll need to pay $20 extra for a hardwire kit (which is a must if you want to use parking mode). So all of this is on the main unit. If you want to see the back of your car, you'll need to use the included, long USBC cable to connect this main unit to the smaller camera which can be sticky mounted on the back glass. The resolution of your recording will depend on how many of the 3 cameras you are recording. If you're only using the main front camera, it can record 4K. If you use the main cam and inside the car cam, the max resolution is 1440p for both cameras. If you turn on all 3 cameras, it'll be 1440p for the main front cam and 1080p for the other two. The loop recording can be done in 1, 3, 5 min increments which can also be turned off completely. I set mine at 5 min because I don't want to search through so many files in case of an accident. I also don't want to find where the accident is in a single big file either. 5 min is decent. Note that if you're recording all 3 cameras with a 5-minute loop recording, you'll have 3 new video files every 5 minutes. Once your SD card is full, the oldest video files will be overwritten. The parking mode is awesome. You will require the hardwire kit to enable it. It doesn't work with the included 12V adapter. The kit has 3 wires - 1 Ground and 2 Power wires. Ground goes to the body of your car or an existing ground line. The first power line goes to a fuse that turns on when you start your car (e.g. wipers, music player, charging port, etc.). This line starts recording the camera automatically when you start your car. The second power line goes to a fuse constantly delivering power (e.g. interior lights, driver seat motors, etc.). This line picks up the needed power for parking mode when you turn off the car. It will automatically turn on parking mode which can be set to OFF. I turned mine off because my car is not expensive and I don't want to drain my battery. If you have an expensive car, this is a must. It has a few options - 1 or 5 fps recording like a long time-lapse, only record if collision, motion, or both are detected, etc. It's quite handy. I highly recommend the hardwire kit as it keeps all the wires out of view. I tucked the wires inside the trims. I also recommend getting a smaller sticky mount for the V4. From my experience, the suction cup mounts fail over time, especially in the summer heat. V4 is rated to withstand up to 158'F so I'm good with 95'F in my area. The sticky mount also gets stronger when heated unless it's scorching hot. Plus, it has a lower profile than the suction mount. Out of the box, I have very little to complain about. I will have to see how reliable it is over time and how it performs in the summer heat. It's so far so good. I can only nitpick the controls at the top in a single line. I prefer circular directional arrows with an OK button in the middle but the dashcam will have to get bigger for such a menu. I got used to the menu after 5 minutes so I can't really complain about that. PROS - quality build, thoughtful design - high-resolution cameras - easy setup - all degrees of coverage - daytime video is perfect - parking mode with motion, collision detection, low res recording CONS - price, but you get what you pay for - the longest part of the installation was hiding the thick cables in the trims - night video can be slightly noisy especially if there's no other light source BOTTOM LINE: If the price is within your budget, this may be one of your best options for a dashcam. Time will tell its long-term performance but my first impression is quite good! PRO TIP: get a USBC to Micro SD adapter for your phone. In an accident, stop the recording, pop the SD card out of the main unit, and plug it into your phone. You can view it on a bigger screen right away. In case of a beautiful day, do the same and post it on Instagram ASAP :D ... show more
