  • So far so good routes with permitted loads!!
Style: New Gen - 7 In
This is new in the Rand McNally truck GPS line, I have used it in couple of trip using an RGN-Lowboy high permitted load and it worked like magic when I changed the truck specs, routed me safely when there was a below 14 feet bridge and warned me of the low ground clearance at RR crossing but a trucker still have to take extra precautions and plan a safe route when hauling permitted loads and do not rely solely on GPS but so far so good!! ... show more

  • On the road again
Style: New Gen - 7 In
My husband uses this while he drives a semi. He uses it because he thinks Randy McNally knows everything. It does have side roads and the interstate and even when he's in BFE he can find roads to get him to where he needs to be cuz a lot of times when he deliver stuff they're not on the main roads not even on the side roads they're on the little bitty curvy roads. And this device can show him where he needs to go. He's been driving now for 15 years and we've always had a Randy McNally and he loves this one. ... show more

  • Helpful in getting you to where you need to go

Don't only trust a commercial GPS. It will sometimes tell you to go down roads that are not truck friendly. Always use a truck atlas to check truck routes. I use my android phone with Google maps right along with this truck gps.

  • Should have gotten a garmin
Style: Old Gen - 7 In
Im an over the road trucker. There’s two major reasons why this GPS falls short for me First, it loses GPS signal. Often. And what good is a GPS that doesnt give your global positioning properly? Clear skies in populated areas and it loses signal. Absolutely infuriating. And this is on american roads, highways, and interstates mind you. When it loses signal, first, your speed reads zero, the icon of the truck on the map goes grey, and then it kicks itself out to the main menu (for some reason). Instead of just reconnecting and continuing the trip, you have to go back into the GPS/navigating mode. Then it asks you if youd like to resume the same trip that it dropped the signal on in the middle of. Then it connects, and youre back off to the races. So, if this sounds safe or like a well thought out convenient design to you, id be interested in hearing your explanations why. Secondly, the battery/charging is not sufficient. Say i start my day with a full battery, and leave it plugged in all day as im using it (as any other trucker would do). Well, within 3 or 4 hours, it has lost HALF its charge, despite being plugged in (and “charging”) the ENTIRE time. This is BS. Why does this happen? I will actually turn it off when im on long 100+ mile stretches of road to give it a chance to “charge back up”. Its so annoying. Ive thought about chucking it out the window because of this, but then id have to use my back up atlas (also rand mcnally, but thankfully the atlas does not take batteries or need to be plugged in to work. They should probably stick to making map books) Why does the through charging seem completely non existent on this GPS? Why does the battery deplete at all while its plugged in? It makes no sense. All i can think is how great the garmin i used to have worked. And didnt have either of these issues. ... show more

  • Found perfect use...
Style: New Gen - 7 In
by far not as good as Garmin OTR810, i purchased this as back up and curiosity... only works with iOS, all addresses type manually, app wont sent address to unit, impossible to register, no BT connection with android phone or iOS, and this just the problems i get after box opening, i have to test it on the road... but as it right now my expectations very low... also no tech support and no info on the web. so so disappointed, for $450 they have to do better... 30000 miles update: as side unit it's awesome, it works grate with wifi, weather, diesel prices... it's like Robin to Batman... working perfect in the pair with Garmin. ... show more

  • I would go with a Cheaper Truck GPS next time
Style: New Gen - 8 In
I don’t like the navigation it’s poorly done sometimes when you have a split ramp it doesn’t give great directions on which lane you need to take until last second when you almost miss it. The way you input addresses is awkward and sometimes I had to lookup gps coordinates for location because the street didn’t come up in the search for it. I went with the larger option on tablet size because of the additional features they advertised such as the Eld…. But you have to have purchase additional accessories to use it. It works, it’s not idiot proof if you don’t have common sense it might send you down a difficult route. All in all im satisfied with it but id get a cheaper option with basic features next time. Its just an overpriced android tablet with mediocre truck maps and routing installed. The only feature that i really like is you can hotspot it to your phone and update over wifi anytime or connect to free WiFi without needing another device to update it. ... show more

  • A good Truck GPS
Style: New Gen - 7 In
It’s a good size, not too big, but not too small. It comes with a rubber strap around it so it takes less impact damage from the truck bouncing around. The routes I get aren’t always the best option, but that’s why I also have the Garmin Dezl next to it in my truck. While they both work great, there’s no reason to rely on one only, when both have areas that they are lacking. So far I find the truck routes it gives me are quite accurate. *Edit 1* Working out quite nicely. I am working on a dedicated account and delivering to stores. When I put in the store address I can pick the specific store and save it to my bookmarks list which then allows me to search for the store number when I need to go back to the same store. The only thing I wish it would do would be to allow me to select the truck entrance to the location I’m heading to, I also wish it would update my route for traffic conditions, but my Garmin GPS does both of those things. ... show more
