Using these as the sole incoming filter on city water for the house. Florida water is notoriously pretty unpleasant, and got tired of sand, chlorine, and whatnot tearing up valves and toilets. Two people, not very frugal on water usage, they last 6mths on average. These filters are capturing all the sediment and take a lot of the taste out of the water. It's definitely not the same as soft water, but it honestly does substantially improve it. Cut a used one in half to validate the product, and it is a true small granule carbon block filter. Pressure drop is negligible for a normal household too. Going on about 2-3 years, and just have them on auto delivery now. Side effects is you'll have to bleach the toilets from time to time because it removes all the chlorine. ... show more

In Texas this type of filter is mandatory if you dont want brown or rusty water. Installed my Big Blue filter housing with these filters and have has perfect results. Because of the rust and Iron in the water here I change the filter every quarter regardless of gallons used. Neighbors always complaining about dingy water but our is always clear and odor free.
