The latching gate securely closes and locks when the pool is not in use to prevent unwanted activity and injuries. The model AF is a double step entry system for easy climbing in and out of your pool. It has a self-closing, self-latching and lockable gate for both safety and to meet code requirements. 1 billion x better than the ladder my 12x24 Intex pool came with. I’m 53 female and it took me 6 hours to put together. It was not easy but I’m not the best craftsman. I used pea gravel and my 30 yo son helped me to hoist it over and into the pool, was not that heavy even with filling with about 30 lbs of pea gravel. You can’t use anything larger than pea gravel or it will get stuck. I didn’t use the door as I don’t have small kids to worry about. I’m getting a mat delivered today that lays under the steps inside the pool, just to keep the vinyl safe. The steps do give a little when you stand on them and the railings do wiggle a bit when you are pulling yourself out of the pool. But overall, this is what I needed to help keep my elderly parents safe when using the pool. The ledge is nice too for my little and nephews to sit on. I really love them! Nice sturdy steps, love the ability to lock it. Then only thing I don’t like is that the door closes behind you and it’s kind of scary to bend down to release the lever to open it while you are on top of the ladder. And then it still tries to close and you have to keep it open with your body as you are going down the steps. ... show more

We purchased a 20 foot pool last year and of course it came with a narrow and flimsy ladder. I found this one on Amazon and purchased it. Easy to put together. Dry sturdy. Makes it very easy to get into pool. Plus it has a gate you can lock for safety.

First of all this product is massively overpriced for what it is. The unit does not meet typical stair codes. The step is small and the rise per step is massive making it very unsafe for children and the elderly. The hand rail is almost non existent as far as any structural value. Any person at all big or small can easily rip the rail clear off and fall either back into the pool or on the ground and get injured. Worst of all after purchasing this product and finding out it was so poorly made we are returning it and the company is charging us $94 in shipping costs. If I were Amazon I’d be ashamed that they even offer this product. Amazon won’t even refund us the cost of the shipping that we need to pay for. I’ll be sure to cancel my Amazon account after this purchase. RUN AWAY AS Fast as you can with this garbage. ... show more

Got this to go with our new above ground pool as I don’t like climbing ladders and my father is handicapped and needed stairs to enter the pool and my son is autistic so I needed something that could lock. While it does the job, the steps are very narrow and my father won’t be able to climb them but for everyone else they are ok. It does lock most of the time, however the arms are very flimsy and my son can basically pull on the side and unlock the gate so we have had to jimmy-rig something that he can’t undo. For $$$ I thought it would be way better quality and last a lot longer. We are looking at putting in a deck next summer as this probably won’t last longer than a year. ... show more
