This is a fantastic product! I assembled the system with my seven-year-old grandson as my assistant. It was a great Saturday project for the two of us to do together. You definitely need to add the sand as that is critical in making the steps sink and stay in place; don't skip that step in the process. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. They are illustrated and besides the sand, the only thing we needed to complete the process was a rubber mallet and screwdriver. It took us only about two hours to put them together. You will definitely need someone to help you get them into the pool. Once you have them in the water, they are simple to move around and place by yourself. This is an outstanding product, great value and made in the USA by Confer Plastics. It was a nice touch that the person that packaged the product and inspected it was noted in the instruction packet, and they included a nice company history for this family owned business. ... show more

Update 6/2019: Still have them, still going strong. Copying some resourceful reviewers on here, I've removed all the sand, let them fill with pool water, slid a 1.5" diameter PVC pipe under the main stairs between 2 holes in the sides (my unit is the older one before the holes were filled in), hung 2 3-gallon buckets (with lids of course) full of sand from it and attached the plastic arms to the deck. They are firmly in place. We did not hang the buckets of sand until after the stairs were in the pool as this made it easier to get them into the pool & jostle around to fill with water. Make sure you let them fill with water - air is your nemesis here! For end of season removal, just remove the buckets of sand, drain as much water as possible, have one average person in the pool and one on the deck and work together to lift them out. How do I know? Tried it. 2 of us were able to easily remove them by removing the buckets of sand, lifting and tilting them (while we were both in the pool) to let some water drain until we felt they were light enough. Then one of us got out of the pool, the person in the pool lifts & tilts the stairs while the person on the deck steadies and lifts. This is much, much easier than when they were filled with sand - obviously. Will post photos when I remove them from the pool this year, but look through the reviews, there are photos from others showing this method. I highly recommend these stairs still. Update: Removing these from the pool is definitely a 2-3 person job. I was able to do it with myself plus one, but it was not easy. Consider that in planning at closing time. Product idea: some sort of folding lift system to assist in getting these out, I may try to devise something. Still highly recommend these, we have gotten lots of positive remarks from people who have seen and used them in our pool. We have been using this for just about a full season now. Absolutely love it, much, much better than a plain old ladder. Buying it here was by far the best price. Not hard to put together, pouring the sand in was a bit tedious but after putting it into the pool I can see why so much is needed. Its still fairly buoyant even with all that wet sand. Use of the plastic arms to attach it to the deck (as per the directions) made it quite sturdy and not easily movable. Others have modified this to hold sandbags or cinder blocks instead of filling it with sand, I think I'll find out why when I attempt to haul these suckers out of the pool for winter. I'll be tackling that task within the next 2 weeks. 80lbs of wet sand, pool is 52" tall.....going to call a buddy over, split a 6 pack and then try to haul it out without damaging the side of the pool. ... show more

These cake pull steps are amazing. It was exactly what I wanted but even better. It’s an easy assembly and it’s perfect. I would recommend it definitely. You do have to buy the sand to put in it though, so definitely get bags of all purpose sand.

These stairs are great for the kids but flimsy handrail is not good for older adults or physically challenged individuals. Steps need to be correctly weighted down with sand And attached to a solid deck or the stairs will inch their way out away from the pool wall. That said they are still better than many other options out there at this time. ... show more

This is perfect for me. I have two kids that spend a lot of time on the steps. This gives them plenty of room to play. Assembly is easy. I used a piece of cardboard to make a large funnel to fill it with sand. It took some work to get it into the pool but it was worth the effort.

My older parents have this for their pool (easy to get in and out), and I wanted to get it for mine so they could use it & feel comfortable. My 10-year old son helped me put this together. It took us about 30-45 minutes, and the only complaint is that we didn't like the paper instructions. But the link took us to youtube and that video was great. It took four of us to lift this up and over the edge of our above-ground pool. but once it was over, it was super easy to secure. Love it. ... show more
