This makes changing struts so much easier. This thing is really well built and very heavy duty. It's amazing for the price. The great thing about it is that you do not have to grab the spring. Very well made, works great, it's about 65-70 lbs. Assembly was straight forward. Your gunna need a 12mm a 14mm and a 17mm to fully assemble it. I didn't feel like enough washers were included, I used 4 additional ones that I had in my shop. Also i think that a heavy duty S or clip to hook the chain into itself should have been included. Soloing my struts, this dosent have me 2nd guessing if my life is in danger lil ... show more

    • Bolts are junk they immediately stripped upon assembly
Ive assembled countless items over the years along with cars and other electronics. Immediate assembly of this item produced trash bolts. One set immediately stripped when i got to the first turn of tension. The others looked cheap like the one set that stripped. The item itself looks fine. Vevor i have had luck with other items like their rolling seat etc... i just recommend grade 8 bolts. Ive replaced mine. Not to mention this is a spring compressor i rather not have the weak point be bolts. Granted im sure they are strong enough to hold but at this point i went on and replaced. ... show more

This thing worked great. I used it to change spring on my sxs shocks. This made it a snap. Has two size spring holders as well. Would recommend if you need a good compressor at a decent price.

    • Worked for my BMW E93 strut
Worked replacing struts on my 2008 BMW E93. While the tool is lightweight, it never felt dangerous. You have to work with it to place the strut the right way, but I was able to compress the spring using the two larger jaws. I placed the lower jaw on the lowest coil of the spring and the upper jaw on the top plate, under the strut bearing. Then, I held the strut assembly while compressing the spring with the foot pedal. The assembly instructions are not great, but after watching a couple of videos I was able to assemble it with no problems. ... show more

    • worked better than the cheap 2 piece tools
a lot safer than the cheap two piece tools. the chain will help old the spring in, but be careful the chain doesn't get caught between the springs or you may not be able to remove the shocks. mine came with a cracked clam shell in the part going into the jack. so check it over good before you use it. i used it to compress the front springs on a toyota tundra doublecab 4wd. keep you head away from the spring bulge frankly when working with springs treat the area around the spring like you were installing a blasting cap in a block of c4 ... show more
