So I bought these at my vet’s recommendation. I’m very careful on what I give me dog, as I’m definitely a helicopter dog mom. Two days before the 4th of July I gave her one (lower than the recommended dose) and she did fantastic while fireworks were going off. I played the tv loud and that was it. She slept no problem. On the actual 4th of July I gave her a couple during the day while firecrackers were going off. She was fine indoors with no music. During nighttime I ended up giving her 2 1/2 and it was better than normal but still rough. I blasted music and played the tv. However, she typically will try to hide under the couch, under the table, etc. and during these she just layed under the covers in bed. Finally, we found the only place in the house that doesn’t echo the fireworks which was our hallway. Once we set up her up there she slept 4 hours and then went to bed with us no problem. These truly do wonders and she is ridiculously anxious with loud noises. It made a world of difference with her. I also think it would have worked better if I started off with the two pills 20 minutes before they started going off. I was trying not too give her too much and only started with the one pill. It does take about 20 minutes to kick in. ... show more

These work great, they have melatonin in them and calms all my nervous thunderstorm dogs. Only one is actually afraid. She taught the other 3. It doesn't help that she gets thunder-candy (vetriscience calm treats) as soon as she hears a rumble or a fire alarm. Unfortunately, they all come to me when I am sleeping if a storm starts at night. I give 2 treats to each dog 60# and bigger. And 1/2-1 treat for my 18# dog. He is so relaxed, he sleeps under the bed and stays there for hours! Usually he is asleep with my elderly father. I buy about 1-2 bags a year. Look for them on sale during Amazon prime days. Compare sellers, also. ... show more

The first bag I got seemed to actually help my shepherd relax a bit and not be so anxious. My only caution is that the last 3 bags I have received, the packaging was all blown up; like when something goes bad, it's container expands. I sent them back and finally the 4th bag I received is the same way. Maybe it's supposed to be like that. I offered a less dose just to make sure the product itself wasn't bad. We shall see. Our dog, Gus, has terrible separation anxiety (if someone leaves the room for any amount of time, Gus gets really upset). We give him Melatonin at night for sleeping. He was a rescue and we adopted him when he was a few months old so he started out with a tough life. I decided to buy these to help out and they have worked great so far. We usually give him one for slightly stressful situations and 2 for really stressful situations (he is allowed 2 for his size). He still does get upset from time to time (like during this past weekend with the fireworks) but we have been able to leave him at home in his crate for a bit without him getting upset by it. He also seems to enjoy the flavor (chicken). We do have medication for him for anxiety but wanted to give these a chance (we can’t even trim his nails without him getting upset and he has to be put under at the Vet’s to get his nails done). I haven’t tried trimming his nails while he has one of these so hoping maybe it will work for that. ... show more

It worked well as an afternoon 'treat' for my senior dog. Our grand-dog who is 80 lbs. is staying with us and our senior dog got a little too agitated in the afternoon when we all came home. It helped her stay calmer.

I got these to give my dogs during fireworks since people in my neighborhood do them all around. I have four small dogs that average 10lbs each. I gave them half of one at first, it seemed to work about an hour later. It affected Leah (8) the most, she was sleepy, Cinch (11) is typically low key, Dewy (2) and Ginny (1.5) are youngins and have the energy of a spry squirrel. Eventually they all calmed down, the next time I did a whole treat which worked faster and lasted a little longer. They were still worried when they heard fireworks but not as bad as usual. ... show more
