This was a breeze to install using the provided aux cable I connected it to my 2006 Saturn view and ran the rear camera wire through the rear window washing fluid dispenser hole on the rear hatch worked great. The most difficult part was running the wire and will vary depending on your model. I haven’t got the rearview camera to pop up when I put it into reverse. I do have to do that manually, which is the only downside. For the price, I don’t think you can beat the quality and functionality of this unit. ... show more

I have a 2014 honda accord. was looking for a standalone carplay unit, where I can use it for maps, and listening to music. connecting to this device was very easy. Typical Bluetooth setup. Touch screen is pretty responsive. audio quality is ok. was able to divert the audio from the phone to car's speaker. have not installed the rearview camera yet, as my Honda accord already has the reverse gear camera from factory. the only callout is that, if you use the provided cigarette charger ... then you won't be able to use any other USB charging to your phone. ... show more

This product is currently priced at $100, and, I have to admit, for $100 for wireless CarPlay, this is a steal. The setup is pretty easy, just needing to sync your phones via bluetooth and then connect to the wifi the Vantrue sends out. We have iPhone 15's and iPhone 15 Pros, and, after that initial setup, within 30 seconds of starting our Kia Sedona minivan, it connects without issue. The Sedona also has bluetooth, so there is a feature you need to enable on the Vantrue to allow it to do in-car bluetooth as well. Basically, your phone connects to both the vehicle and the Vantrue, and then it allows you to head all the sounds via the car's built-in stereo, which is nice. It, of course, is powered by a cigarette lighter, which isn't a huge deal, but you do end up having a cable run down your dash as a result. Maybe someone with more know how is able to run it under the dash to hide it, but that is something I'm not really savvy with. Once the setup is done, it's pretty seamless. The only two downsides (and one is questionable) we've come across is when both my wife and I are in the van at the same time. Since both of our phones are synced up to it, we've found the device that was synced up to it first (my wife's) is the one that always takes priority in the car with connecting. I wish it was the other way around, as my wife prefers I drive most places, and I'd prefer my phone is the one to do so. It's pretty easy to get around this. She just flips off her wifi/bluetooth, and then mine connects pretty quickly. I've yet to find a way to change this priority, but maybe it's as simple as forgetting the devices and connecting them again in the order we'd prefer. The one other thing, which I'm not sure is really the reason, is we kept the Vantrue plugged into the cigarette lighter. Even though it doesn't show the power light on when the car is off, we've had a couple occasions where our car wouldn't start and had to be jumped. I'm not 100% sure this is the reason, but it's the only thing we've found that could be the cause. Who knows though. Otherwise, especially at the $100 price, this thing is awesome if you're wanting to add CarPlay. I don't have an Android, so can't test Android Auto, but we've been happy with it on the iOS front. ... show more

Got this for the upcoming road trip we are having. The screen expands the GPS into a much large screen which is much more visible while driving rather than using a phone screen. I also enjoy the little feature they have to play music from your phone or play videos for the kids in the back to keep them from getting out of control. The back cam was a plus which just makes it easier backing out of a parking space. ... show more

    • I love this CarPlay screen!
So this is made by Vantrue, a company that makes great dashcams that I have used. So when I saw this at the price I snagged it. I have a classic truck that I really wanted a backup camera for. I tow things frequently and a backup camera makes hitching up so much better. The car play aspect is a bonus. Install was simple despite the limited instructions. Note that the red wire on the camera cable should be connected to +12v on the reverse light circuit to enable automatic switching to the rear view camera. I needed to get an extension cable to get it to the back of my long bed truck. These are readily available on amazon. Also note that if you need to cut and solder the camera and or power cables it's possible. I had to do both to get the connectors trough some tight spaces. I am powering it from a hidden USB adapter in the glove box via a USVB c cable. Works great. I hooked up audio via the line out to the line in on my radio. Works great. You can also stream audio to your head unit via bluetooth or a FM station on your radio. Audio is clean and high quality. If using a cable make sure it is shielded. I mounted straight to the dash with the adhesive on the base which is the good strong stuff. It comes with a sort of pad that I'm not sure how you would use it. Maybe stick it to the pad and then the pad on the dash? Adjustment of screen angle is easy after install and it locks firmly and doesn't jostle around when driving. The unit boots on key on which is nice. Car play comes on quickly via wireless. Pairing is a straightforward feature. If wired correctly the reverse camera comes on automatically and has guide lines that you can adjust in the settings. You can also start the camera from the main (non CarPlay) screen to have it always on. Good for hooking up trailer. The CarPlay function is good. Screen is responsive (not as good as on my Audi but fine). Everything works as expected. The screen could be a little brighter in the middle of the day but my truck has a white hood and no tint so it's a pretty challenging lighting scenario. The backup camera is sharp and bright. Maybe not the best quality but it looks good. We will see how long it holds up. Overall I'm very happy with the purchase and for the price you cant beat it. It's a great way to get wireless CarPlay functionality to an existing system. ... show more
