  • Very nice bipod, sturdy and well built
Having never used a bipod prior to this one I am not able to make any comparisons between this and, for example, a Harris bipod. However, I have to say that I am quite impressed with the overall quality of this unit. The included swivel adaptor kit is quickly mounted to most any gun, and could be used for mounting other things (flashlights or lasers?) if the bipod is not in use. The good: --- --- --- --- --- --- I did find it a little odd, at first, that there are two distinct locking mechanisms for extending the legs. After having used the bipod for a little while and gotten used to the controls I actually like it. - For quick setups you simply pull the legs (they are spring-loaded to retract) all the way out. Once fully extended the quick-release latch snaps into place. When you are ready to move again, simply push the front of the quick-release and the legs snap (pretty quickly) back to the fully retracted position. - For more precise shooting and uneven terrain the twist knobs are used. They adjust fairly quickly, though it is a challenge to hold the leg to the length you want AND turn the knob. They only require about 1/4 to 1/2 a turn to lock. The knobs also have a small peg that stops them from turning too far. The bipod can be mounted facing forward (when folded) or backward. When mounted so the legs point forward folded, the controls are on the opposite side of the legs from the user. The benefit here is that in the folded position the controls are much less likely to snag on the environment around you. However, it does make them a little harder to adjust. The legs are parallel to the barrel of the gun when folded. They do not angle outwards. The panning feature was a little stiff when I first started using it, but has loosened up some since. I would estimate about 10 to 15 degrees of motion. That doesn't sound like much, but at 100 yards 15 degrees is a pretty wide sweep. I did not find it necessary to loosen the set screw to enable the panning feature. The thumb screw for attaching / removing the bipod to a Picatinny rail is easy to deal with and nicely sized. I have not noticed it getting loose while using the bipod. The tension springs that hold the bipod open and closed are strong. I was goofing around with the unit when it first arrived (off the gun) and accidentally snapped my fingers in between the springs and the metal (ouch). The legs fold up fast and are held solid in both positions. The legs have a nice rubber foot pinned to the bottom. The pin should keep these from being lost or scraped off in use. --- --- --- --- --- --- The bad: --- --- --- --- --- --- The extension portion of the legs (the inner legs) are a little lighter weight. They seem to bow a little under the weight of my R-25. No major issue with them yet, but I will be keeping an eye out for any bending. The rubber feet are not non-marring. I dragged them a little to reposition and saw a thin black line on the table-rest. --- --- --- --- --- --- Overall, I would recommend this bipod to anyone shy of a professional target shooter. I believe this unit is a perfect fit for my target shooting and hunting needs. ... show more

  • Solid piece of equipment
This is the first time I've ever purchased a bi-pod. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and found this to be the best piece of equipment for the money. Once it arrived, I immediately began to give it some attention. The foldable arms are very sturdy. Had to give a good pull to extend them. The extendable legs were easy to pull to full extension and hear plus see the click into the locking mechanism. Also easy push to retract them as well. Only issue is if you need to extend the legs to a certain height, you need two hands. Still an easy move. Best part was mounting it on my AR-15. Looks awesome. Easy mount to rail. I did tighten the screw w plyers. Careful, it does strip a little on the screw but if you only need to do it once it's ok. I then tested every part while on my rifle. Everything worked perfectly. Legs at full extension were sturdy because I left my Surefire light attachment on and didn't see any bowing or tension. Very good. I didn't mess with the swivel too much. It moves but you have to give it a little muscle. I will be going to shoot targets this weekend to see how it holds up in the field. Overall, a fantastic piece of equipment. Highly recommended. Thank you UTG and Amazon. ... show more

  • Works on my low-end 308
I am not a huge "big game" hunter nor a major tactical expert. I am a weekend warrior against being overrun by whitetail deer and an occasional shoot targets for fun person. So I have not put this bipod on a perfectly dialed-in high dollar rifle nor is it on my full-tactical AR. Probably because I have neither, but I have a basic 308 that I use for hunting. I wanted the bipod on it because of the locations that I hunt, I find myself needing to stabilize my rifle on a flat surface--which is why anyone would use one, I suppose. I mounted it with the mount plate for the swivel. That took a little bit of filing down the synthetic stock on the rifle to make it flush. Had it been a nice wood stock, I would have either taken it to a gunsmith or returned the bipod, but the basic synthetic I wasn't worried about damaging the looks of. After that, it attached easily. The bipod provides good stability and is adjustable if you're shooting from an uneven surface. Mine is a little tight in the springs, so it takes a little extra force to set it up, but that means it takes some extra force to knock it down. Which, since it's not on a 22 rimfire, is helpful. In all, it's sturdy, attached with a little work, and fit my price range. If you're not super serious, this is a good fit. If you need to shoot elephants at 500 yards or stabilize in really rugged conditions, you might want something more expensive. But for the average user? This is just fine. A word about the height: I have this one and the shorter one, the "SWAT" model, I think. I like the higher profile of the "Sniper" better. It does not get as short as the "SWAT/Combat" but it's better equipped for longer range. I keep both and try to anticipate which one I will need in the woods. ... show more
