  • Decent cage, designed well. Good choice
It is a decent cage, it is sturdy enough for indoors or semi outdoor (barn) but would advise avoiding full outdoor placement. That much moisture might cause water damage unless you sealed the outer wood that is exposed a bit better. Rabbit loves it, I couldn’t see more than two medium rabbits or three mini’s for comfort. I would keep it to one on xlarge rabbits 20 plus pounds or more. Our mini Rex loves it Cleaning is easy because the tray pulls clear The company did a great job Best tip Go to a tractor supply store and get wood pine pellets for keeping a horse stall clean. Cost me $7 for 40 lbs. easy to clean up and no urine smells and safe for bunnies. Keep them inside no smell ... show more

  • INDOOR Bunny Hutch
First, I am an accidental bunnymomma to a rabbit whose had a hardhard life so my opinion is that of a learning-as-we-go newbie. This is my Lionhead doe's second Aivituvin hutch and she seems as happy with it as I am. Her first was the big gray one (with the goat on top). She loved it but it was massive! This one is a bit smaller but is mostly just a less intrusive design. Both were easy for me to assemble alone. They are well-designed for ease of use and bunny comfort. Mairsy Doe uses the privacy loft to eat and drink but rarely lounges there --her preference is for the open lower level. These hutchs are crafted of VERY SOFT wood so using power tools to assemble is unnecessary and could be destructive. If your bunny is a chewer (they all are)...keep lots of chewtoys on hand to spare the hutch. Her first hutch held up well for 2 years and is replaced only because it now looks ratty (it will now be her porch hutch). Love these hutches!!! ... show more

  • Strap in for big review.
Size reference: 1.5 year old male rabbit approx 6.5 lbs seen in left corner of cage. First impression was not great. Anything I have to build myself I immediately remove all pieces and inspect quality of each part. Some of the pieces are split. Several pieces had mold/mildew growing on them. It was nothing a little bleach spray and a papertowel couldn't fix, but I expect my items to be mold free to begin with. The wood is a soft pine which makes it easier to put together, but that also means it's easier for it to be chewed up. Not all the screw places have pilot holes so it's nice to have it be a soft wood, however some of the pilot holes didn't line up properly and made it incredibly hard to hand screw pieces together. Using a drill would be best if you have one. That would eliminate a lot of time spent putting it all together. It took me about 2 and a half hours using a Phillips screw driver by myself, so not impossible but also not ideal. Having someone else for the extra hands holding would also definitely make things easier. Final product review: I really wish there were some cross pieces on the bottom for support under the tray. There also needs to be another leg support where the two halves of the cage meet. The two halves need to line up just right between the two story and one story section. If it's not exactly where it needs to be, the sagging created between the halves makes the door on the left hard to open/close and lock/unlock. The cage as a whole does a weird wiggle wobble sometimes because there's nothing supporting the bottom or center of it all. The plus side of the whole thing is my rabbit loves his new house. I opted to use just the tray instead of having the wire bottom and it seems to be working just fine without it. The ramp is a little steep but a full grown rabbit can most likely just jump up into the hutch area without using the ramp at all. The wheels are sturdy and good quality in general. They came fully greased and can lock if needed. The front ramp can be removed as needed which I find pretty useful. There is a very strong fresh cut pine wood smell, but I personally don't mind it. Overall, I wish it was a little more structurally sound and arrived clean, but it's not a bad purchase. ... show more

  • Almost
It’s ok it works for my 4lbs bunny but my 9lbs with a full coat barely fits through the doors and full coat or not the space inside is too small for him to move. The picture is from when my bunny was only 2lbs, and it was kinda cramped then. I do wish it had a better support bc the middle is a major weak spot and that would help hold the panels on the bottom level up, since they shift and fall a lot. The top room part was barely used. Only the bottom part with the tray and panels will stay during the bunny upgrade the rest is kinda useless. ... show more

  • Not really worth it…
I bought this for my rabbit back in March of 2021 and I loved it at first! I thought it was absolutely beautiful, but as the more time passed I started to notice issues with its design. If you have a rabbit that can’t get enough of chewing, a wooden hutch is not the best way to go and the wood on the hutch isn’t of the best quality. The rabbit urine begins to seep into the wood leaving the putrid smell of ammonia behind no matter how often you clean it or how deeply you clean it. The trays leak!! Urine has leaked out of the trays and sept into the wood of the hutch, not only that but it has stained and damaged my floors. There are even more design flaws in the hutch that make it very difficult to clean. There are little nooks and crannies EVERYWHERE so even when you deep clean, it’s still extremely difficult to get into all the cracks. The hay feeder is inconveniently placed over a little slit where hay likes to fall down into and possibly go bad. I’ve had to use a straw cleaner in order to get the hay out of the crack. When the hutch first arrived there was also some damage as to where the door separating top and bottom didn’t close completely and it was fairly difficult to assemble. It’s fairly sturdy until the bottom try’s get pulled out and then it can become a bit wobbly. Overall I would not recommend this for anything other than looks. If you are looking for something practical I would recommend searching somewhere else. I’ll be receiving a new hutch/cage for Christmas that is metal and plastic with no wood that he can chew on and no small books and crannies for things to go bad in and hopefully anything will be better than this monstrosity of a hutch I have now. ... show more
