  • Universal Audio Sucks to Deal With
Style: x16 Heritage Edition
They build great products but holy cow do they suck at just about every thing else. I won't get into problems with other products, but the x8p I just opened does not have the TRS Output connections as pictured here or on their website. It comes with a DB25 output connection .. so now I don't have the wires to hook it up. Awesome, have a nice 3 day weekend to play with my new gear ... except I can't .. because Universal Audio can't be bothered to update their website and documentation when making major changes to their gear. This is on par with every other experience I've had with them not shipping $1000s in promotional items, ignoring my emails for days and weeks, and disabling plugin's I've paid for randomly and making me spend weeks jumping through hoops to get them back and more. I just spent $3.400 and can't use my gear because you cant even properly tell me what connections your gear takes .. terrible terrible terrible ... show more

  • Prepare to spend hours cleaning up your computer
Style: x8 Heritage Edition
Terrible first impressions with this interface. Hardware feels cheap; knobs are plastic and wobbly. Software install on Mac ‘requires’ that you disable some pretty important security settings in order for it to work (which I would never otherwise do). And once it’s installed, prepare to spend hours cleaning up your system. No joke, as part of the interface install they also install trial versions of EVERY SINGLE plugin in their library. On my system it amounted to 153 plugins! That’s more than double what I had before (I like to keep a pretty lean system to avoid decision paralysis). Absolutely absurd. I spent over $3000 on this interface and now they’re cluttering up my system with a million plugins in an attempt to get even more money. And most of these plugins I would rarely use; mostly emulations of vintage compressors, eq’s and preamps. No delays, reverbs, etc so it’s not a diverse set. My take: don’t buy the Heritage edition. Use the extra money to buy a proper bundle that covers a lot more bases (Soundtoys, Arturia FX, etc). ... show more
