Overall, I'm happy with this item. My motivation was to find an assisted device for seniors (and others) who tend to sit most of the day. In particular are dementia patients who tend to sit much of the time. I'm also targeting the population that will generally not exercise by themselves but need lower body movement for the joints and muscle tissues. That said, understand that these devices do not provide a huge range of motion. However, I think it's adequate for my needs. I recently got rid of a similar sit-down cycle machine that I used to keep under my desk at work. It was a bit smaller than this one and much simpler: it had a small display that only required a battery to operate. But after I started working from home I found that I just didn't use it. For one thing, I also have an exercise bike and treadmill at home that I use daily. But they are not convenient while I'm working at my desk. This Youngfit elliptical machine is a great motivator. I keep it and use it under my desk, but it has a handle and wheels and I can move it elsewhere, as when I'm watching TV. The display is more sophisticated and informative as well. It seems well-made, sturdy and mostly quiet. At first I noticed some squeaking, but I tightened the foot pedals and the noise stopped. The only assembly needed was attaching the foot pads and it was easy enough with the tool and directions provided. I like that there is a remote control (which came with the battery installed) so I can change the mode and speed easily. My main complaint is that for the machine to function it needs to be plugged in. Unlike with my exercise bike, which I pedal, the foot pads themselves move (hence the different speed settings). The power cord is very short, about three feet or so. But I connect it to a power strip and it works fine. A minor complaint is that there are only five speeds and the fifth speed is not very high. It's good for a mild workout or one that lasts more than 20 minutes at a constant speed, but for more resistance I will rely on my exercise bike or treadmill. I like this elliptical machine for the variety it adds to my fitness routine and for its convenience, despite a couple of shortcomings. ... show more
