I can't say enough how much I love this little electric traveler's guitar! I bought and used it at a time when traveling when it was required to have the minimum amount of luggage, and it exactly suit my needs. I've taken it to the beach often (probably a bad idea because of the salt, but it shows no sign of extra wear), around with me on all-day adventures and it's survived quite a bit of rough, merciless travel and trekking. In it's case, it is very lightweight and easy to carry on your back, even underneath a backpack it feels natural and comfortable and because of its size is easy to control and doesn't whack into things. As far and quality and playability... I had no amp, so playing as if it were acoustic without being plugged in is still possible! It is quiet since there is nowhere for the sound to reverberate, but it has great sound that is beautiful, although I'm sure not as nice a huge-buck acoustic. It is nice just playing for yourself (would be too quiet without being plugged in to play for an audience larger than two or three up close to you), especially if you don't want to disturb others nearby by playing guitar. As far as durability, this thing is great! As said it's been brought around and handled somewhat roughly quite a bit, and I have all the confidence that this guitar will hold up for many, many years of use, if not my whole life, which I expect it will. The color doesn't chip away and all the materials are very solid and sure. The size is fantastic as mentioned, and it is easy to play, the neck is the same as a regular guitar in my opinion. The string knobs are at the bottom which is unusual but I love it actually. There are knobs that allow for a guitar strap, although I don't usually use one because it is very easy to hold up and grip on its own. The visual appearance of this guitar is fun and beautiful! I have a black walnut color on mine, and I couldn't ask for better to suit my preferences. On a fun note, I got a lot of comments from people asking what it was. In its case, some people asked if it was a rifle, a machete, and even a pool cue... interesting. That's just how this looks; interesting! I like being incognito, and sometimes that works because of the size, despite its strange appearance I definitely recommend this guitar to people looking for the same thing as me and who like quality and precision, especially to people often traveling or don't have the space, this guitar is perfect. This is one of the most favorite things I have ever bought for myself, and I would buy it again if something ever happened to it. I have been playing guitar for about 38 years. I stopped for a number of years for a number of reasons, but now I am able to play again. The catch is that I only have time to play when I'm not busy with work or my family. That means when I'm traveling, when I'm on vacation, when I'm waiting around for a few minutes here and there, etc. In January 2019 I started looking at the Traveler Ultralight Acoustic and the Martin Backpacker guitar as possible ways to get a guitar in my hands during those short availabilities. After reading a lot and trying out both at Guitar Center near me I went with the Backpacker, and it was one of the best things I had done in years! The Backpacker was small, easy to play (came set up with .009 strings and good enough action). When we went on vacation the Backpacker came along. When we went for short trips, the Backpacker fit in the van with all the other things. When I came home from work it was easier to leave the Backpacker laying around to be picked up... and it only cost $300, so if it got crushed it was not as much of a burden to replace. So it got me to play a LOT more. After a year of playing with the Backpacker I missed one thing that the Traveler could do. The Traveler was much smaller than the Backpacker and was much more durable. As such, I felt a lot better throwing it into a car for business travel. It was also much quieter, so I was comfortable playing it in a hotel room without concern it would annoy neighbors. Now I'm playing even more with the Traveler because it's smaller, more durable, and quieter. So how does it play? It plays great! The setup is not perfect, and when I find time I'll probably lower the action and file the nut a bit on strings 1, 2, and maybe 3. I'm just estimating, I haven't taken any measurements. But there are no buzzes. The neck feels very nice, and I'm playing more than I did before. I had already gotten used to playing an unbalanced guitar from playing the Backpacker, so that was no trouble for me. I don't often use the lap device. I mostly stand to play as it is more comfortable. The guitar is so small I can walk on my treadmill while practicing and easily move around. That's another bonus for me as I always try to do something else when on the treadmill. I have plugged into an amp but mostly use the guitar acoustically. I am glad I went with the humbucker pickup rather than the single-coil, however, I did not play a guitar with the single-coil so I don't know how it sounds. I did play the Traveler Ultralight Acoustic through an amp and was not pleased with the sound out of the amp. It was not an amp I was familiar with, so it could have been that the amp was not adjusted to my liking, but I suspect I would not be pleased with the pickup in the Traveler Ultralight Acoustic. In all, I am very pleased with this guitar. I get a lot of enjoyment playing more than I would otherwise. It's convenient to use, notes are in-tune, intonation is good, the action is beyond what I would consider acceptable for an instrument in this price range (actually, the whole setup is), I have had no problems with it going out of tune more than my other instruments when the humidity changes. In all, this is an amazing instrument and I'm grateful that Traveler is able to offer such a great value. ... show more

I wish this guitar was better. It feels like a lot of money for what it is, but it's also a niche product so the market/demand is setting the price more than the build quality. The action is passable. The neck is decent/true. There is ZERO sustain, mostly due to the lack of mass, so...trade-off. It's a bitch to get into and keep tune; I even upgraded to Traveler's locking tuners and the effect was pretty marginal. As other reviews have mentioned, it's a bit of a workout to play this guitar, which one might see as beneficial when returning to a more playable guitar (ie you build strength). I've never plugged it into an amp so can't speak to its tone. But...it is a very lightweight, small electric guitar that I can keep around and practice basic scale work when I'm watching TV. So, if your goal is having a small, portable guitar around to play on, and you don't expect it to play anywhere near as well as a typical guitar, then I'd recommend it. If you're looking for a 3 lb guitar that plays anywhere near your normal axe, keep dreaming 🌠 ... show more
