    • Sturdy, Convenient, and Lightweight
This is the nicest hard drive enclosure I have had so far. I have had metal ones in the past, but none made with this level of care or detail. Installing a hard drive in this is completely tool-less and any standard 2.5" HDD or SSD will fit snugly with no vibration. With my hard drive (Crucial MX) it lightly grips the sides and the hard drive does not wiggle at all. Transfer rates are fast, so it does not bottleneck SSDs. Starting off, this is the best built/performing External USB-C 2.5" Enclosure I've ever used. I wasn't paid to write this review, I have just bought a second of these, and the material design, minimalist approach and quality of it's performance are what encouraged me to write this. First off, it comes packaged simply. It is easy to get into, easy to install a drive and overall, the easiest way to turn an internal 2.5" disk into an external performance drive. My specific needs for these were for external application, so choosing an external drive was worth it to me. Opening the cover, popping one drive out and putting a new drive in, takes seconds of time. No tools, no finicky buttons, just a gentle press on the triangle on the bottom, and it slides right off. It handles heat VERY well. On a 1 TB Enterprise Grade SSD connected to a Thunderbolt 3 port, transferring 910 GB (consistent push to the drive) it took less than an hour (wasn't paying attention) and wasn't "hot" to the touch over the course of the transfer. Yes, it was warm, but wasn't so hot that you couldn't touch it. That, and the speeds at which it transferred were NOT reduced over time, as some drives have done to me in the past.     • Easy Drive Installation, Transfer Speeds Lacking
The case is very well built and I like how easy it is to install the drive into the enclosure. It is solid and the drive is well secured. However, testing the speed on the SSD drive that was installed only reaches 34 Mb/second when using a Windows 11 computer with a USB-C to USB-C cable. The speed should be closer to 100+ Mb/second.     • Works well and easy to swap disks.
It works fine for me. I have a few 2.5" HD and SSD disks that I shuffle around and use for archiving data and loading up with movies to watch on the TV. So this is not a daily use for me. Doing DR type backups in Windows PE with Backup software it works well. No problems recognizing the device or doing a long sequential 50GB backup to it. Copied over 100GB of files and no problems. From a performance perspective it isn't super fast but it also isn't slow by any means. The cable that comes with it and plugged into a USB 3.1 port I had no problems getting 450MB/sec on 2 older SSDs in Crystal Disk Mark. Doing the backup in Windows PE I was able to get 250-350MB/sec. That includes overhead of the backup software doing file reads and writes and doing compression. Plus no tools to swap disks in it. I like it. ... show more

Nice build quality with an aluminum top cover which has a tiny led on it to show drive activity. Bottom sliding cover stays on securely with rubber feet so the enclosure won't slide around. The USB C port on the drive is a little tighter than expected but the cable isn't going to go anywhere when it's plugged in. There are foam pads inside to keep the drive from moving or wabbling side to side which also help keep whatever drive you plug in to stay securely attached. ... show more
