  • Seems to Work Well
Size: 3/8 Inch x 92 Feet Color: Orange
I have only used this once to drag a large hemlock log. It was too heavy to lift with my loader, but this synthetic winch line pulled it without incident. No noticeable stretch to the line. Nice that it is lightweight and doesn't take much room to store. I keep it in a small tool back along with shackles and a soft shackle. My primary reason for buying it was to have on hand if I need to pull a leaning tree in a different direction. Much easier to use than chain or steel cable. ... show more

  • Not sure...
Size: 3/8 Inch x 50 Feet Color: Orange
It is what it is. Its light & its orange. But, it came in an unbranded box without any documentation or load rating on it. The ends were not tapered as they should be (which reduce load capability). Length is ~46ft/~14m (looks like the buried ends are the missing part for 50ft/15m) All in all, not sure I trust this one. Haven't used it yet. Edit: Used it yesterday as last resort to extend snatch straps on a beach recovery. The cable handled the load. 3 cars pulled: Subaru Forester, Jeep WK & Mitsubishi pickup. I did re-do the edges in order to give it proper taper and highly recommend you do the same. you can find guides on youtube. ... show more

  • Holds up when pulling oak logs
Size: 3/8 Inch x 50 Feet Color: Blue
The rope's thimble's eyehole easily fit 7/8-inch shackle pins. The rope and their thimbles worked very well dragging a 2000-pound oak log with no apparent damage. The product description could be better by including thimble eye capacity dimensions. Products with more descriptive info sell more by helping customers make buying decisions. ... show more

  • Excellent quantity.
Size: 3/8 Inch x 50 Feet Color: Blue
Made the mistake of using an old nylon rope to pull something. It snapped and caused a small dent in some sheet metal. Learn from us stupid people and get a good rope that's rated for the job. This rope seems to be of very good quality. May never need it, but it's worth it's weight in gold if you do. ... show more

  • Not built right! Likely to fail under load
Size: 3/8 Inch x 92 Feet Color: Blue
Upon first inspection after receiving this rope (3/8"x92'), I was concerneed about the eyelet structure from first glance. First off, the metal eyelets are unnecessary and I don't trust them (they can deform under load and cause a cut point on the cable). Since this type of rope is succeptible to failing at any unrounded edges, I was going to take them off. Side note: I have been splicing all diameters of this type of cordage for some time now, so I know what I'm doing, and it's easily researchable information found online. While disassembling the first eyelet (pic 1), I loosened it enough to get the metal eyelets out of the way. Then, I inspected the locked brummel weave of the rope eyelet itself, and it was truly a locked brummel. Good job. By just feeling the buried tail end of the brummel, there were 2 issues. First, the bury length was too short for this diameter of this type of braided cordage. It measured 13" of bury, and recommended bury length for 3/8" rope after a splice is 20-27". Second, the tail end was just cut off blunt, and had no taper to a gradually reducing point. An untapered buried tail creates a weak point at such an abrupt diameter change and lessens the max load capacity of this rig. So, I rebuilt that first end with no metal eyelet, a larger diameter corded eyelet with a locked brummel, and a 24" tapered tail (pics 2 & 3). On to side 2. So, side 2 was a disaster and the most at-risk for almost guaranteed eventual failure. It did NOT have a locked brummel weave! (see pics 4 & 5) I went to loosen the brummel to take out the 2nd metal eyelet, and the main line slid right out of the "brummel". Dangerous! It was not a locked brummel, and it also only had a 12" buried tail with no taper. I wouldn't even hang a hammock with this type of build. The eyelet would slip open if load wasn't constantly maintained, and even if that somehow held, it would still fail prematirely due to the short untapered buried end. I properly rebuilt both ends (pic 6). This is now a great backup winch extension or tow rope for my truck. The cordage itself appears to be proper quality and diameter, but the ends are built wrong. If you research a little on how to splice and work with Amsteel and synthetic braided rope, you can fix yours and also have a very economical piece of recovery gear. And, you'll have learned how to repair your synthetic ropes in the field with minimal tools. For the price, this ended up being a great value even with the 15 minutes I took to rebuild the ends with just one splicing fid. 2 stars only because the rope material is good quality. 0 stars added due to the major failure likelihood and safety risk of this rig. ... show more
