  • I was a little apprehensive about how to hook up
After reading the instructions it was so easy to hook up and now I have a remote for my winch that works great. Good quality and very good price.

  • Good Remote
Good for the cost. Not very sturdy or impact-resistant so be careful where you leave it. The plastic clip on the back is fragile so don't overstress it or it will break like a pretzel. The receiver is not made of sturdy stuff so placement is key for longevity. We have a lot of delivery trucks that use Super Winches and when a driver loses a remote this brand is my go-to replacement. ... show more

  • convenient small pocket size remote
I use my winch almost daily & the big remotes.. well, they suck. The key chain remote is awesome for its size. I keep it in my pocket. However, the solenoids stay engaged after I release the IN or OUT button sometimes for up to 1 or 2 seconds which is not acceptable. I don't know yet if this is the fault of the control receiver or the remote. ... show more

  • How to hook it up so it will work.
1st of all you need to know that the outputs are not connected to relays but transistors.. They are not meant to control the witch directly. You need to provide relays so that it can handle the amperage of the winch motor, you will not hear a click when you press the button until you add a relay. The 2 output wires simply reverse polarity to control the winch going up or down. ... show more

  • So far so good
I got used bumper with a winch on it made by barricade. It didn't come with a controller I contacted barricade and they said they don't sell replacement parts if it were still under warrantee and it broke they'd send a new one but other than that your on your own they don't sell replacement parts. Needless to say I was pissed off at them and I started looking into other options and it was impossible to find one that fits their plug on the control box. So before I spent 70 bucks on a controller and plug to wire into the box I figured Id try this since it was so cheap. Well Sofar I'm very happy with it I still wannna get a wired controller for back up in the woods. It took me 5 min to wire it up and it worked great. It does have a 1 second delay (it doesn't start working till the button is pushed for 1 second and continues to run for 1 second after the button is released takes a little getting used to but no big deal) My only other issue is (to be fair its an issue with the winch not the controller) there is no kill switch on my control module so if you accidentally hit the button winch will spool. I'm going to wire the winch to a relay that's switched in the cab so I can kill the power when I'm not using the winch. just something to think about if your gonna get one. However it is really nice to have a wireless controller!!!!! I do recommend one!! ... show more

  • Winch out before installing!
I’ve read the reviews about RF interference causing problems. The last thing I wanted was for it to randomly winch IN/OUT while driving around town. So the first thing I did was mount a small toggle switch underneath and behind the control box on my smittybilt winch. So this unit is off all the time until it’s time to use it. Then I just reach behind and flip the switch to turn it on. The first unit they sent was defective. When I flipped the switch to turn it on it immediately started winching in and wouldn’t stop. Luckily I had enough slack in the cable to buy me enough time to re act. Returned that one and installed the new one they sent out a day later. Works good. The remote control is a little clunky and laggy but works pretty good. I just piggy backed off of the original wiring so I can always plug in the cable and use the hand held controller that came with the winch. And for extra protection I did add zener diodes in-line with the white and yellow winch output wires to keep voltage from coming up those wires back into the controller. The control box probably already has them installed on the inside but I had some laying around and figured it wouldn’t hurt. ... show more

  • 2 years later still works great
I usually wait at least a year before leaving a review. I'm ruff and tuff on stuff and this has survived the test. After 6 months or so I actually bought a second one in case the first one had an issue. I attached it to my winch with a standard round 4 wire trailer plug so when not in use I put components in a crown royal bag and stick it in my glove box. I have installed same plugs on both of my trailers so I can plug the same remote kit on either one. 2 years later original one is still going great and I put the spare on my ATV. Only issue (which is expected) is at times if I am steering while winching a car/truck onto the trailer if it stops I hold the remote out the window to get better signal and it works fine. ... show more
