  • Easy installation, bonus with UV-C and heating functions
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
I've had the 14,000 BTU unit for a few days now and it is way better than I expected. I live in Virginia and it starts to get boiling these days. My friend suggests I have a portable AC unit because it’s easy to install and works just as well as a window AC. So I take a few days on Amazon and try to find an affordable and effective ac. Among so many choices on Amazon for a large room, this one catches my eyes because it comes with a heating function and a UV-C light. I have an air purifier with UV-C light and I think it actually works. For the similar portable AC below $500 bucks, I think these functions are a bonus for this machine. This free-standing AC unit arrived quickly in a well-packed box with everything in perfect condition. It’s not slim, kind of like a penguin lol. It’s above 70 pounds and feels like a sturdy machine. The wheels on the bottom are easy to move everywhere. It comes with a well-written user manual with detailed instructions on how to install. It says the machine should stand upright for at least 3 to 4 hours before the first usage. So I left it for a night and decided to try it the next day. Installation is simple. My sliding window just fits well, and it didn’t take me much time to install. The window panel kit and hoses seem well made. I haven’t tried the drain hose for the dehumidifying function yet. The one that I like most is the turbo function. It cools down the room really fast and a little noisy because it’s running at the highest fan speed. You can sense the cold breeze; meanwhile, you don’t have to sit next to it. The auto-swing vent makes it comfortable. The control panel is easy to read and operate. Not sure if the heating function can really work as I wish in the winter. I just tried for a while and it does heat. But I guess you’ll not regret trying this machine at such a price. ... show more

  • Way too loud and quit cooling after less than 20 hours of use
Style: 10,000 BTU
Update 2; received a replacement unit and this one is working fine. I suspect the original unit was damaged during shipping. The new unit is quieter than the original and the noise level now is ok; louder than a fan of course but it's not so loud you can't sleep with it on. Overall works fine now. When buying one of these I would suggest you make sure to test it out right away and run it a few times to make sure it wasn't damaged during shipping. Update: after speaking with the seller the offered to send a replacement. Will update this after I receive the new unit Absolute piece of junk junk. Only actually ran for somewhere around 12-15 hours,. The cooling output was alright, but the noise level was absurd. And then things got bad. At this point it started making an extremely loud whistling sound - picture the most annoying teapot imaginable. This was multiple times louder than than just the standard running noise, which was too loud to begin with. Even after turning it off the whistling continued for another 30 to 45 minutes and could be heard two rooms away. After that the compressor stopped working, which mean no more cooling. So now it's a $300 fan, and not even a good one at that. Don't waste your time or money on this. ... show more

  • Should have known :(
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
I have had a Honeywell A/C unit rated for 450 sq feet for about 3 years. It has worked fine, but as I have a 500 sq ft apartment I decided to try to upgrade to get a cooler environment. I THOROUGHLY researched all of my options. As I have been experiencing allergies, I was excited to find the UV light filter on this model. I looked for other brands with this feature to compare, but all others were nearly twice the price/had a much higher cooling capacity than I needed. After much deliberating, I bought this unit rated for 600 sq feet thinking it would surely cool my small studio apartment. I was wrong Installation was easy enough and went very quickly, but that is where the ease ended. I read the manual and tried to get the unit working, but discovered a few of the buttons on the remote do not even do anything, and the touch screen style buttons are very finicky and have multiple functions—meaning if it interprets one press as two presses, you are now stuck in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit rather than just switching to fan mode. Not too big of an issue as I keep it in air conditioning mode exclusively. However, I did expect that the air conditioning would work better. I pressed the “turbo” mode on the remote (which is supposed to turn all functions to max in order to cool the room as quickly as possible). It was on turbo for three days straight and never hit the set temperature. I live in Southern California, so it’s only fighting maybe 85F outside. And I have my apartment divided in half by a curtain to even further make the area I’m trying to cool smaller. So maybe 200 sq ft. And it still couldn’t get down to temperature. The air coming out of the unit is cold, but it doesn’t seem to have enough force to circulate it. I ended up hooking up my older less powerful unit and it worked better. After a few days and some slightly cooler outside temps, I tried to work the Turbro unit again. This time I realized the major design flaw in the unit. The temperature gauge is located right where the cold air comes out. This means that all night while trying to sleep, the unit would turn on a/c mode then turn just to fan mode then back to a/c mode every 5-10 minutes as it would sense the cold air coming out, think the room was cold, turn off, realize it wasn’t cold, turn back on, etc. this was not a quiet process. What made it even more frustrating was that while most units display the actual temperature of the room, this unit only displayed the set point. I had to purchase a separate indoor thermometer to see what my room actually was. Even after multiple days of running set to 64F, the thermometer set maybe four feet away consistently reads 75-80 during the day. It may seem a great deal to get the UV and A/C in one, but save your money. Should have known it was too good to be true. ... show more

  • Quit after 15 minutes..........
Style: 14,000 BTU + HEAT + UV-C
Unpacked after it sat all night after delivery, hooked up the vent hose, plugged it in, turned it on and after a minute it started blowing cold air.......Super...... 15 minutes later it was just blowing air. Couldn't get the compressor to kick on. I unplugged it from the wall thinking it had a brain cramp, let it set, plugged it back in and it started cooling............for about 15 minutes......then it was back to blowing air but but not cool. Update: corrected the problem on my end. .........then the remote failed. After 5-6 texts they replaced the remote of course its not like the one that came with the unit but it works ......so we'll see. Fingers crossed... Fast foward to Mar. 26th 2024 when the blower fan came apart. I contacted their customer supprt dept., provided pictures and received a complete new unit on April 2nd 2024 . Thanks for the exceptional customer service. ... show more
