I've been a recording engineer for years, so I understand that I am more sensitive to sound quality than most. In the last year of being in endless zoom meetings, I've missed the confidence of communicating effectively to other people in the room. I've been on so many calls where the person is saying the right things but the sound quality is so poor, due to the equipment, the room and other distractions that the message is diluted and/or lost. On a recent zoom I noticed one of the participants sounded like a voice-over. He sounded clear and professional. I asked what he was using- TULA!! I ordered it before the call was over.... I didn't even know that it worked as a standalone recorder! I didn't know how cool it looked! I just love the sound. I'm getting one for everybody on my team. ... show more

    • It was nice while it lasted.

This was a nice little microphone. I mostly used it for Zoom calls. I liked the better dynamic range than my laptop built-in mic. Sometimes I would play a musical instrument through it, and the recording quality was quite good. However, after a few months of quietly sitting on my desk next to my laptop it just died. It doesn't work any more. When I attach it to a usb charger nothing lights up. It appears to be bricked. For such an expensive product, I really expected it to last longer than 3 or 4 months. The built in rechargeable battery does not appear to be consumer replaceable, otherwise I would probably try to order a replacement battery if I could find one. I have no idea if the battery is dead, or the charging circuitry. There is no easy way to tell. :-( sad face. I'll have to shop for a new microphone soon.     • Musicians beware. Not for loud environments.

NOT for recording band practice. This mic is very good for exactly what it is advertised to do. Vlogging, YouTubing and general speech from behind a computer and in the field as a handheld mic to capture speech. But that is literally it. It cannot handle loud singing or loud instruments at all without distorting. It’s very unfortunate because it really is a great little mic. I’m looking forward to seeing what other iterations are to come in the future. That being said, it looks and sounds great. It’s classy looking for one. It’s compact. It’s easy to use and it is very sensitive. It’s a substantial upgrade from my Logitech camera microphone. Also, the Uni/Omni mode is a nice touch. And I must say, the noise cancellation feature works VERY well. No more fan noise or ambient noise in your podcasts! At 3 feet from the mic, the low end is still very full and pleasing. It does not need to be right up in your face to be usable. My only gripe, beyond it being useless in loud musical environments, is that it is pretty sibilant. The high end is extremely present. This could be a good thing for some people who want that, as it is very clear (while also remaining very full sounding even at a relatively significant distance for a larger diaphragm mic). But I can see how the highs could be problematic for some. Overall, it does exactly what it’s advertised to do very well. Do not expect it to do anything above and beyond it’s stated purpose. I would definitely recommend this mic to my friends who do anything involving speech on their computer or in the field. Great job! PS: I do wish it came with a pouch of some sort. ... show more

This is a great device and it does exactly what it is advertised to do. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice when I bought the Tula Mic that it does not have onboard speakers and one cannot playback recordings directly from the device. The audio files need to be loaded onto a computer or other device to listen what was recorded. The sound of the recordings is superb and using the the Tula Mic for Zoom, Gatherly and Teams has been easy and of outstanding sound quality to the listeners at the other side of the web session. ... show more

I was looking for something to use in meetings after someone complained my voice always sounds muffled. This mic is much smaller than I realized, but that’s not an issue. It’s actually a nice surprise because it’s very portable/easy to pack up. Clients in my meeting can now hear me “crystal clear”, so I’m happy with that. I haven’t had time to test out any noise cancellation yet, but will update the review if it doesn’t live up to that claim.     • Reduces background noise in most situations
Color: Red
The background noise reduction works well for low noise levels such as desktop computer fans, refrigerators and outside noises with windows closed. Only slightly suppresses desktop keyboard thumping (if placed on same desk) and outside in moderate to heavy wind. I get best result when using on a boom at mouth level 6 inches away at a 45° degree angle. PROS: Instant boot up time. Can start recording as soon as turning on and pressing record. Quick to swap between mic stand and desk attachment. Very good signal to noise for recording in a meeting room with people talking softly. When using noise reduction, it also saves the original as a separate file so you can choose what is best. High quality sound with low latency, direct and recording. CONs: Hard to see LEDs in sunlight. Loud recordings can overload input even at lowest setting. A vacuum cleaner at 3 feet is about as loud as you want to go. Would be nice if it could handle wind better, but I'm still experimenting with wind socks. ... show more

This microphone is perfect size for any scenario. It is super compact and doesn't effect the great quality of the sound. It is very user friendly and is compatible with any computer device you may have it. 10/10 would recommend.
