Description

Neumann TLM103 Cardioid Pressure Gradient Condenser Microphone is a large diaphragm, cardioid condenser microphone. It's well-balanced performance and extremely low self-noise make it the mic of choice for virtually all recording, broadcast and production applications. K 103 Capsule The TLM103 features the K103 Capsule based on the K87, well known from the Neumann U67 and U87 microphones. The Capsule offers a flat frequency response resulting in accurate sound reproduction. Transformer-less Circuitry Neumann's transformer- less output stage ensures low noise on output at even the lowest of levels. Balanced output results in maximum output gain resulting in even lower noise floor. Cardioid Polar Pattern The cardioid polar pattern effectively isolates source signal.

  • Forget the cost, EXPERIENCE THE QUALITY!

So, I'm a voice over actor. I produce voice overs for clients all over the world, not just the USA. I've been working with AKG brand mics for the last 10 years. I have landed plenty of jobs with those mics, however, THIS, right here, is a HUGE game changer. I didn't know I was lacking LOTS of midrange with my AKG vs this Neumann TLM 103. I am extremely excited to rock this mic for the next 10, 12 years. ... show more

The TLM-103 has been a staple of the voice acting industry for almost two decades and, like almost all Neumann products, has been a judgement bar that many other brands have tried to match. As a recent addition to the voice acting industry I was hesitant to purchase this due to the age of the model but I took the risk and here's my thoughts: Pro's: - The tones are warm, full, particularly well matched for my high-mids to the lowest I can go. You know that happy little warm feeling when you take a bite into the right part of a slice of toast? This mic's tones feel kinda like that. - The pickup is insane. You don't have to worry about it missing any subtle nuances and it doesn't require you to be right up in it to still get a nice clean pickup out of you. (Still recommended but hey) - Very small, very easy to work around without it blocking your view. - Comes with a great little shock mount which fits most boom arms. - Comes in an incredibly specialized foam padded case to ensure total safety when it's not set up for recording. Con's: - It's the stripped down version of the TLM 087 and thus doesn't come with ALL the bells and whistles. The capsule is the same but the circuitry is simplified to save on cost. Will this impact your ability to sell yourself to the big kids in the acting industry? Not at all. Do you want to add a U87 to your Christmas List for when you're living large and in charge? Yea but keep your 103 when you do because it's fantastic. Conclusion: It's not the latest flashiest model but there's a REASON as to why Neumann holds its own against more modern competitors. My clients have all noticed a marked improvement over my prior equipment, my audiobooks sound great, and it brings in the money. It's worth the buy. ... show more
