    • Tria Beauty Hair Removal Device IPL-S
I have been using the Tria IPL-S for a few weeks consistently, and must say that consistency is key here. I used it intermittently before and didn't stick with it, I wasn't seeing results. The booklet that comes with the device suggests doing a session every 2 weeks - for me, this wasn't enough. I am seeing better results with using it once per week. I have dark brown hair and fair skin, so I feel like I'm an ideal candidate for an IPL and it does work with my skin tone. I am by no means hairless at this point, however, I feel like my hair growth has slowed down, and the areas I'm using it on are becoming patchy - there are areas that have spots of no hair already. The cooling area around the light makes it more comfortable to use. My previous IPL didn't have this and it makes a big difference with the snapping feeling of the light. There are 10 different light levels, and I can currently tolerate a level 8 without feeling discomfort. The multiple levels allow me to customize the strength depending on which area I'm using so I can tone it down for more sensitive places. I pretty much exclusively use it on the automatic setting where it flashes on its own when it detects proper positioning. This isn't fool proof and sometimes I have to rock it back and forth to make contact if it doesn't like the way I'm holding it. I'm not a fan of the big handle on it, it makes it clunky to hold and I almost never use it, I normally just hold the body of the device. I also wish the cord was longer. The outlets in my bathroom are above my vanity and it doesn't give me a lot of room to work with, I have to stay close to the wall which isn't my favorite. For these reasons, I deducted a star. Nothing that's a deal breaker, just things I didn't personally like. I'm happy with the IPL-S and it's a definite upgrade from my previous IPL with the cooling feature, it makes it much less of a chore to use it knowing that it isn't going to be painful for me. I'm already seeing progress, and look forward to more permanent hair removal with continued use. ... show more

    • Be consistent!!
You really have to stick to a regiment with these kind of IPL treatments. I was doing a good job and was starting to see results but then got a little lazy and lost my consistency and thus my results. Make sure you keep up with this. I ended up using it a bit more frequently than suggested, but only by a few days. Be sure to read the manual on how to best treat your skin before running the machine. My biggest hurdle into getting into a good rhythm of use was making sure my skin wasn't exfoilated before or that it was properly shaved. These is an aspect of "prep" needed to use this correctly - though I can imagine you could still use this after exfoiliating and just run the risk of discomfort/damage to your skin. I like that this comes with a good pair of light blocking glasses. There's also that targets plate for smaller jobs. The cooling plate really does work well and I had next to no discomfort using this (on my legs) at a high level. I do wish that the unit wasn't so bulky. It's a bit hard to use in my bathroom since my counters are pretty small so I end up having to use it on the floor. ... show more

    • I don’t think mine works
I could really use some help troubleshooting here. Cable and plug in secure. Screen doesn’t come on. I have no clue how many zaps I have remaining, what level I’m at, nothing. I press the zap button and green arrows flash. When I put it on my skin it zaps, but it’s a red light. I don’t see anything in the manual about a red light/red yellow light (had glasses on it looked yellow). The device did get a little warm. Is my device defective or is it just me? The market for home laser hair removal products has really grown. Tria has a number of products in this space and seems to know what they're doing. It comes with filter glasses to protect your eyes (super critical, you don't want an errant laser discharge to damage your eyes!). This device is fairly easy to operate. Plug it in, turn it on, set the level (start low) and start blasting areas of hair. The device seems a little clunky in shape but it does lie nice and flat when stored in a drawer. ... show more

I have two other IPL hair removers from the past 5 years. The technology has only gotten better. This is a great IPL device. Even though it looks large it is quite compact and extremely easy to use on all body areas. I love the cooling plate it has which helps with any heat from the pulses but what it really does is sort of distracts you from the pulse by being chilling on the skin so I didn’t really register the pulse. Love that it has a lens cover too. It does take a few months to get the best results if you are starting from the beginning. I have been using this IPL a for maintenance and it is working really well. Please know if your skin/hair type is best for an IPL and follow instructions -there are no shortcuts in hair removal.     • Scary directions
This is my first experience with a device that uses this technology to remove hair. The directions are clear but lengthy. It is pretty straightforward to use. The cord is long enough and the machine is easy to hold while using. It feels and looks well made. It suggests a skin test on the first use. You basically zap yourself until it hurts to find your highest setting. I just started on the lowest one to be safe. I did two zaps. One with the cover on a smaller area and one without on a larger area. I didn't feel anything on the small area. I felt coldness on the larger area. It's been 24 hours and there are no red markers or rashes. Hair has not fallen out but I didn't expect results yet either. I'm going to continue to raise the setting as my comfort level builds with this device. It requires repeated treatments a couple times a month for results. I will update this after I've used it a few times but I wanted to get my initial reaction out there. As of now, I do recommend it based on ease of use and no pain. ... show more
