I've never done anything with Tints before, and this item was very easy to install. The tints come in a spool that has – marks in order for you to make measurements and cut. I also purchased a tint installation kit super cheap, which are those yellow tools. Baby soap and that kit you'll be ok. I also looked at the video of the product. It shows you how to install them real quick. Also the about film "tint" was just enough- if I had measurement too short I would have needed to order a new film . My measurements for both window s were 33 inches width and 32 inches in Height. Very pleased with the product and outcome of installation. Great for blocking out the sun if you work nights ... show more

Installation could be made easier if the backing had continous lines for cutting.... NOT interrupted by advertisement and instructions, and much closer together. Directions failed to mention that this product can be cut with a razor or sharp knife while on the window, and much faster, easier and more precisely and smoothly than with scissors. Cuts easily enough....... Works great on the window. Can even apply it in small pieces and strips. Well, it does block out light. If you have perfectly flat glass with 90° corners, you can probably get this to work, but it WILL NOT WORK if your glass has any sort of concave curve to it, you might get it to stretch over a convex, but not the other way. You’ll also never get rounded corners cut to fit exactly, so light will be leaking through. I used on auto windows, with a slight curve and the film constantly lifted at the edges and pulled its self loose. Fought one window for an hour and the next day the film was in a pile on the floor. Ended up using black duct tape to hold all the edges down and I still don’t expect it to stay put. If you are using on flat, rectangular glass, it will probably stick, but you’ll need help and lots of paper towels. The spray bottle of soapy water method does actually work (use a squeegee, not a card) as long as you use lots of it. Be prepared to clean up a mess. I wish they wouldn’t try so hard to make it removable, give me a version that sticks like duct tape and let me worry about removing it. “Removable” is another word for “not easy to stick”. I followed their directions to the letter (highly recommended). Nice material. Be advised though, my application was only 22" x32," any bigger I would highly recommend a two person installation. If your application requires cutting this, make sure your scissors are sharp, also recommend an Exacto type razor for smaller cuts. No shrinkage yet and just a few very small/tiny bubbles appeaaring, but not a problem,yet. Will update if that changes. Total blackout, not see through at all, which is what I wanted. ... show more

This was my first time putting tint of any kind on windows. I used this for my garage windows and I stumbled at first but finally got it. I used a spray bottle with water. It helped move it around and get it settled. I used a plastic putty knife to pull out the bubbles and extra water. I know you don’t need to use any of these because it’s static cling but it helped more than you would expect. It cuts out all light and has made my garage cooler. It’s thick and the inside part you work with has a rough texture which made it easy to get the bubbles out. I will buy this again!! ... show more

Owing to my occupation, I live the life of a vampire... minus all the blood sucking... and the bat thing. Everyday, my day ends in a race against the clock, with my eternal struggle to be in bed before the red and yellow rays of daylight peeks over the horizon. No, I'm not a stripper; I work in a casino. Alas, I will inevitably fail to each deep sleep should I lose the fight against the rising sun and my next day will start with red puffy eyes as I rise, once again, as my alter ego - Mr. Crankypants. Therefore, I decided that the healthy course of action - rather than attempt to overdose in caffeine - is to block all semblance of daylight in my bedroom. Enter the blackout film. I wandered if this product was similar to those that are on my cars, but if I were to describe them, I'd say they are actually closer to heavy- duty rubber film.They allow ZERO light penetration and are oh- so- easy to apply. The instructions are on the back of the film (the part that gets peels off) and are easy to follow. Don't disregard the part about allowing for an extra half an inch or so on each side. They have a tendency to be about quarter inch smaller once applied as opposed to prior to removal from backing. Also, be sure to use lukewarm water with DISH SOAP to wet the window when you apply. Then, gently press the middle part in first, then spread out towards the edges as this will prevent additional bubbling. Also, don't be shy about peeling it back off and putting it back on during the initial application - it won't hurt it. Remember: - Measure and then add half an inch to all sides before cutting - Use lukewarm water with tiny bit of dish soap added - Press the middle part in first before spreading outward ... show more

We bought this a couple weeks ago to put on our windows because my husband works nights. It already peeled off all windows. We now have to tape it up there. Could’ve bought black paper cheaper than this and taped it up. Do not recommend.
