    • Great for Large Rats or Ferrets
So! Im a first time rat mom and my three girls have been calling this cage their home for a bit over three days now. and they do enjoy it! Its spacious, and sturdy for the price. And it does its job, and pretty well too. But oh my goodness was it hard getting there. -Construction: And I mean assembling it. It was HARD. Many of the screw holes had filings stuck in there which made getting the screw fully in difficult, especially with the Alan wrench that came with it. But, with some cleaning of the holes and my much more sturdy Ikea screwdriver with a swappable head that fit, I was about to assemble the thing. However, there was one big issue. The roof was bent, and bent bad. My roomate and I had to use all of our force to push the top down into position for me to strain myself and use all my force to get one screw in. But, that top being bent may have been UPS's Fault, so Im not gonna knock the vendor for it. -Characteristics: Roomy! Lots of space for goodies and stuff, like my girls' hammock and hiding hole that they adore. Was even able to manage to jam in a foot wide exercise wheel! However, there's the spacing. If it was a more reasonable spacing like 3/8ths inches, there'd be no reason to knock it for this. but its a wiiiddeeee 9/10ths inches instead. For fully grown rats or larger animals like Ferrets, its awesome. But for my girls, who are still pretty young when typing this... well, Turtle the rat climbed out almost instantly from the side. The wide, inch tall gratings on the sides are easy to escape from, while the front and back, being an inch wide but much longer in height instead, seem to be a lot less escape prone! Either way, 20 bucks of wire mesh strapped to the outside of the cage fixed that. -Strength: ...Uh, yes. Its steel. As long as you don't get a bent piece like I did it's gonna be one of the most stable, solid cages you could own. Final Verdict? Its pretty good! Quite viable for this first time rat owner, although its good if you have larger, adult rats than my little babs. Or Ferrets! Not the best in the world, but for the price, its worth. And it arrived a day early, even. So yeah, for the right animal, buy! 8/10, I'd say. (P.S. Some sellers are selling this cage or its three tiered version for kittens or full on cats on Amazon. Dont do that. That's ridiculous. The platforms are too flimsy and its just... small... Much better for rats, Ferrets, and other larger rodents.) ... show more

I originally had my rats in a rabbit cage but they kept escaping. I had this assembled in about 15 mins and the rats can’t escape. Great value for the price.

    • Not for rats!! - would be good for a larger pet
Got this cage for our two large rats. One of our boys used to try escaping from it and one night his hips got stuck between the rails trying to escape. He mustve been trapped like that for a while. My sister found him in the morning and he died shortly after. Poor guy died a terrible death

    • Great cage for the money.
I bought this cage for my guinea pig. He's a big boy so definitely wouldn't have two in there due to no room. The cage is easy to clean and easy to put together. My only dislike is the ramps don't stay in place. My guinea pig is able to knock them down with zero effort. I do love being able to easily roll the cage around. He stay in the extra room in my garage (he's very messy and can't be inside due to my dog) and I like roll him outside during the day. ... show more

    • Amazing for price but small rats can escape!
About what you would expect for the price. The metal was better quality than expected. My two infant rats can escape but as long as I put enough food in the cage they never do. My large adult rat would escape if she could but shes too fat. I wouldn’t recommend for owners of young rats because they will likely escape. Also, during set up we has to been a few metal pieces to make it fit but it only took about 20 mins. I love this product and its amazing for the price!! ... show more

We had some large rats in this cage and they loved it, while they were inside of it. They escaped regularly despite being large rats. I would only using this cage for ferrets.

    • Guinea pig mansion
We are using this for our guinea pig, Luna. So far she likes it, especially all the levels. It was very easy to put together and is very sturdy. Only thing I would recommend is making a barrier around the lower half to keep food and bedding inside rather than all over the floor. My 9 year old build a "barricade" and no more poop on the floor. Woo-hoo. It's not to big and bulky and it's easy to maneuver with the wheels. ... show more

    • Great cage for my rats
Product came in great condition. Wasn’t bad setting it up. I’m using it for my two rats. I wrapped the cage In chicken wire/hardware cloth as the openings between the bars are too big for my young rats. They love it. Perfect size. Has wheels so it’s easy to move around.
