This is the third inexpensive helmet that I tried. I am just a DIY home welding enthusiast, and I am not going to spend hundreds of bucks on a pro helmet. This is very comfortable. The controls are easy. It works great. What else do you need? I would buy it again.

This is an amazing helmet for your shop welder all the way up to the pro welder!! The main view window is large and clear, with only a slight glare on the clear face sheild. The two green side windows are very nice for finding tools or materials on your sides. The SINGULAR downside to this helmet is the forehead control. It's clunky and impossible to change with gloves on, and the helmet needs to be fully removed to change any settings. A small wired remote or a different method of changing settings would be far better. Maybe an app would work great! For this reason I recommend NOT buying this helmet! ... show more

I feel like I got my moneys worth. Wanted a little more field of a vision. Clarity is nice, no complaints. Instructions are good. Controls, Battery department and lenses are easily accessible so I feel like maintenance won't be a chore. No comment on longevity yet. Only have slight concern for the sensitivity adjustment. The first 80% of it does almost nothing in day light looking right up into the sun or my shop light. The last 20% is most of the fine tuning. I'm not sure if its cause for concern or not. I'm not too impressed with the delay over my $30 dollar bargain brand helmet. It lightens up nearly instantly after a weld and I still have to hold my hand up or look away as the metal cools from bright red over 2 seconds. My other helmet would keep dark until the pool cooled a couple of seconds. As far as reaction time, spot on, no worries of an arc flash to the eyes. That being said, I feel like the features, clarity, fit, ease of working on justify the money spent. Maybe mine didn't have the best QC, or its just working as intended, but I'll round it up from 3.5 to 4 stars, not quite a 3. ... show more

My job requires me to do an hour or two of welding each day. I didn't want to get an expensive Hood when I don't use it all that much. I took a chance and grabbed this one and I couldn't have made a better choice. It has an extremely large viewing area, multiple adjustments so that you can customize how you want to view the arc, and it's very comfortable with the large ratchet adjustment strap in the back and the two head saddles inside. My only issue is that I'm having trouble finding replacement lenses for the front curved lens but other than that, this is the perfect Hood for your occasional welder/hobby welder. ... show more

I work in structural & custom fab welding services for 30-40 hrs a week as well as taking welding classes for a degree in college when I am not working (lecture + labs). I found this welding hood great for the price. I do get everything I can out of a tool I purchase so I tend to wear out a lot of my clothes, gloves, shoes/boots and tools. This hood was purchased at the beginning of February and am planning on getting a new welding hood very soon. (Better quality) I do love the fact you just lift up and you can grind, cut, measure etc. Problems occured during the 3rd or 4th month like replacing the clear lenses which you will have to order and most likely cut to size or the head gear does not tighten or keep the hood from falling. (Tighteners on the sides) It is not as light as another hood without the flip up component and you do feel relieved when you take the hood off but you get used to the weight. It is fairly comfortable. Definitely worth the money but don't expect it to last years. Good fab hood. ... show more

1. The view screen darkens slowly enough that every arc strike results in a mild flash. That’s with the sensitivity cranked to its highest level. 2. There’s no perceptible difference between shade 9 and shade 13. 3. The screen begins to lighten after 6-7 seconds of welding, resulting in a flash. I purchased and installed a brand new battery with a 4-month-old date code, ensured that the sensors and screen were clean and clear, and verified the screen settings multiple times, cycling through the switch and potentiometers to be certain it wasn’t a sticky control. After all that, after 2 hours of welding I was left with black spots and burning eyes for a day or so. This helmet is going back to Amazon. If there was an option for zero stars this hat would be right there. ... show more

Edit: DO NOT BUY IT after three weeks of use it got a black spot in the corner and quit working i tried contacting the seller and never got a message back whats the point of a warranty if its not usable... absolutely worthless It's a decent hood just definitely not a true veiw still turns everything green but decent for the money and the head gear is pretty good ... show more
